We cannot be limited by physics of today when talking about creation

No, He says His covenant with the order of the world is unchanging.

You are a slanderer. They studied Genesis to find out how God says the universe “came about”.

Or urine might suddenly become explosive and we all die when our bladders detonate. There’s just no way of knowing! Every day is an new adventure.

Including the text of Genesis!

No one has to make predictions to read a record of what was and will be one day.

Having things unfold in this world in no way means that laws or forces were not changed as needed.

History does not record what nature was like so I am not sure where you dredged up ‘fake history’ Personally I doubt there was any writing at all before Babel. All people spoke the same language. I suspect that a need for drawing pics to communicate (and later written language) came after Babel!

No – it is faith in YHWH-Elohim and his declared covenant with the fixed laws of heaven and earth.

Not at all. Those who are wise agree with Scripture and God. Those who claim wisdom while opposing it are anything but wise and our duty (if forced to listen to their nonsense) is to reject it utterly

No. Attributing creation to processes that were created is foolishness and unbelief. His covenant with us is Jesus. Not some physics rules that bind us!

Must be rough not believing in God. Believer can relax. he told us about the future and past

But you don’t “agree with scripture and God”, you think the inspired writer was wrong when he told us that God made an unbreakable covenant with the fixed laws of heaven and earth.
Do you even understand what a covenant is in biblical terms?

Your views are precisely why hundreds of students when I was at university gave up their faith and many hundreds more rejected it. There is a term for that from scripture that I will not mention yet, but may later.

Huh? “Processes that were created” is how Genesis tells us that most of life came about!: YHWH-ELohim commanded the sea and the earth to “bring forth!” living things. Much of the early church believed in spontaneous generation because of that.

So you think that Jeremiah lied when He told us about the unbreakable covenant God made with the fixed laws of heaven and earth? or maybe he just got it wrong?

It’s God’s covenant with the fixed laws of heaven and earth that bind heaven and earth. I believe that God can be trusted to hold to His covenants, but you are telling me that He is untrustworthy.

I concur. Asserting that people need to choose between a literalist interpretation of Genesis or rejection of Christianity turns away many. I suppose some would smuggly rejoice in using it as a filter to weed out the ‘unworthy’ and ‘prove’ their wisdom but if they truly believe that separation from God is so horrible, I’m surprised they aren’t wailing and crying for anyone lost as a result.

Quite a few DO deny just that. As for the bad science, if it is so bad, when why does it give us new patents, inventions, medical treatments, and open new areas of research and discovery? That’s what science does for us, including the science of evolution. If it is just bad fiction, these things should not be possible.

I don’t think you are getting it. There was a great mystery that existed about the orbit of Mercury that couldn’t be explained by gravity alone. It eventually found an explanation with Einstein’s theory of general relativity. General relativity had many more specific predictions of things like gravitational lensing, gravitational waves, gravitational time dilation, the expansion or contraction of space, etc. All of these tests passed with flying colors, plus some. You can make a specific prediction, and go measure it!

So even today, I can take an instrument in my physics lab and collect light from a distant object in the universe. The spectral lines for hydrogen are shifted by a specific amount. Those spectral lines are shifted in a specific way that was predicted by General Relativity which had already seen remarkable success.

I’m sorry that you have gone down this path. I get it, I’ve been in your shoes. Yet after I stopped reading well-meaning Christians who were incredibly dismissive of science, I learned there are so many cool things about God’s creation like the redshift, or like how this cosmological expansion points to a beginning of our universe, or the remarkable complexity of the laws of nature. God’s creation really is remarkable and Einstein was amazed that it was even comprehensible. I do hope as you learn about his creation that you can do so without fear, dismissive confidence that all scientists are fools (including God loving Christians who do real physics like myself), and a curiosity that creation might just be grander and more interesting and more complex, a reflection of the creator you and I both believe in.

The covenant that Jesus spoke about was not some physical laws that He could not change if needed. Obviously. You are grasping at straws and raising canards. If you were teaching at a university I would not blame me for the ruining of some people’s faith. The cemeteries/seminaries of the dead teach doubt and lies.

No. Genesis tells us God formed man and created the heavens and earth. Not processes. Try to be serious here. Once again the covenant was made with His blood and involves belief in Jesus, not thermodynamics and such. Man was directly formed by God and life was breathed into man by God Himself, not any process. He spoke and the earth brang forth creatures. That was not some old age process but something that happened on day 6. The garden He planted! It did not spring out of nowhere. Sea creatures did not come to be from some process “ So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds” Man came because God made us. It says so. ““Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness..” When He told says the land brought forth creatures He also says this “25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds..” He also tells us when “And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day”

The day and night is fixed but of course that does not mean that a day was not a little longer or shorter in the past! In fact a year was 360 days not 365 as it is now. The laws of heaven and earth refer to how God controls things and set up rules and laws. It does not mean He cannot change them as needed. For example He stopped the sun one day for Joshua. Another time He reversed the sundial! In the Tribulation period we are told the sun will shine for only a third of the day! In the first few days of creation there was no sun at all! So controlling day and night does not mean the sun has to even exist or work the way it does now! The stars will fall one day so it does not depend on them either. It was dark for three hours the day Jesus was killed! There will be no night in New Jerusalem, we will not need to sleep. Your idea that physics is some god that cannot be changed by God is wrong. Every miracle violates the laws of physics. The resurrection violated the heck out of the laws of physics. Jesus flying up into heaven out of sight violated physics. Walking through doors violated physics. Jesus flying down on a white horse when He returns violates physics! Man living almost 1000 years is against physics today. The choice is to believe…or not.

I have never met a believer that denied last week. Really. Your claims are hollow. No medical treatment involves a same physics in the far past. No invention. No patent. Get a grip

I don’t think you are getting it. No time dilation or any other aspect or theory of science relates to the past needing to have been the same. Nor to creation. Nor to spirits or God. The expansion of the universe is based on belief. Distances are based on belief. It is all belief based. Man is intelligent and does understand some things. His problem is that he gets too big for his little britches and starts to talk above his ability and paygrade. It is not ‘learning about creation’ to pretend we know things we do not, especially when they contradict revealed truth of God Almighty. They needed to invent invisible pixie dust (dark energy and matter) to account for why this perceived expansion takes place. They assume redshifting of light must be due to the reasons light gets shifted on earth. Basically they are working with less than half the picture and facts and making grandiose godless alternate creation models with that. The wisdom of this world is truly and actually literally foolishness to God.

Well I think this thread on Physics has ran its course. People are welcome to open up new topics based upon the contents therein.
