Why does “data generation” not seem to be something that people associate with science?
At least our family is an improvement on that. Not having enough (reasonable) chairs would be the first problem we would run into.

I did some like it for tornadoes (whilst at a small private school for pre-K and the first quarter of kindergarten).
My Grandmother had a house in the 1960’s with a atomic bomb shelter in the backyard. Sort of a scary place to visit, under 6-8 feet of dirt, concrete walls and a hand cranked pump to get fresh air down and pulled through a filter. Makes you think survival is not all it is cracked up to be in that situation. Especially if you forget the can opener (credits to Gary Larson.)

I was stumped earlier too, Phil - and it just now occurred to me!

Reminds me of my first year teaching when I had my students get under their desks when I mistook a fire drill bell for the earthquake bell. The joke after that was about my having had them “assume the toast position”.
