Unhitching the OT from the NT

Where is this claim made? That the Second Person of the Holy and Undivided Trinity collapsed after eternity, once for all infinite creation, in to a human ovum.

That is your human understanding. Do not try to put it on God.

Sorry? It’s called reason and He commands me, us to use it. To love Him with our whole minds.

It is not reasonable to say that God cannot do what God does.

That’s why I haven’t. God doesn’t die every time His nature incarnates. As it has from eternity throughout infinity and will forever. God changes not after all.

Hmmm…seems to me the “form” of God is irrelevant. It’s his character that never changes, and his character is ultimately revealed in Jesus the Messiah.

You make the mistake of thinking that the universe is the incarnation of God, which it is not. In so9me sense we know this is because the universe does change. It was born with the Big Bang and it will eventually die. The universe is not immortal.

@fmiddel is right We know God through Jesus Christ Who embodies and reveals God’s Love for us, even by suffering and dying for our salvation.

The mistake of attributing that mistake is yours.

And you’re right but unintentionally so. God can no more suffer than He can die, apart from by His immanence.

I’m glad we agree.

It might appear so. We might mean completely different things by the same words.

It seems to me that our starting presuppositions are disparate enough to preclude commonality in conclusions.

Oooooh, I dunno @fmiddel, I can do once upon a time, it’s easier than staring in to the bottomless pit of eternity. Makes yer 'ead spin!

I think you best leave eternity to God.

The Beginni9ng is much better documented.

[quote=“Relates, post:473, topic:41934, full:true”]

I leave it in Him where it’s always been.

Which beginning of what once-upon-a-time made up story document or actual documentary beginning of which there is no beginning, of infinite from eternity?

That is far past what is revealed in scripture. God is spirit, and Spirit does not die.

I do understand now, thanks for taking the time to share your perspective with us.

A personal question between an individual and God.

The record of Jesus’ life and the scriptures may give us some inspiration, like it has for many other Christians.

Inspiration to be “Holy” a word which simply means to be “set a part”, different and distinct from the rest of culture (I.e. counter-cultural). The theme of “Havdalah” (I.e. separation) is prevalent throughout the Bible and is a key feature of God’s character and the character of his people. The greatest indication of separation is “Agape” (I.e. Altruistic Love).

In addition, the scriptures talk about two masters: one is God and one is satan; God’s people obey him and the rest of the world obey satan. Obedience means to discard the ways of the world and live counter-culturally: explicitly it is to love others as one’s self, which is counter-cultural to a world that is selfish.

John is talking about Torah. I’ve explained what I believe Torah is; I think where @Relates and I have arrived with this is that Torah can be summarised (like Jesus instructs) as “love God” and “love your neighbour as yourself”. How this is done is personal and unique to each person and the people they interact with in their context (I.e. specific time and place).

Again, a personal question between an individual and God.

There are particulars, but not in the form of do’s and don’ts (I let God speak for himself on this one for an individual).

Jesus has given us some useful analogies in his parables and sermons; these can be found in the gospels. These help us distinguish between two distinct lifestyles, which can highlight our personal sins and the sins of others.

If you are genuinely looking for some particulars in the 21st century; this YouTube channel may be helpful (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT-uSxMHbk7l92ITE9k177g) of course do your own research, and make up your own mind about the culture you live in.

What is revealed in the NT is that Jesus the Second Person of the Trinity did die and rose again, demonstrating that we too will die, but will live again, if we are in Jesus Christ. God is the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, and the Holy Spirit did not die, but was received by God’s people as a result of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, so that is the Spirit’s role in God’s plan of salvation.

We agree Jesus died.

To say that means God died is to fall back on the simple math equation (Jesus = God), and thinking we can turn God into a math equation is unreasonable.

That might be more Platonic than Hebrew Scripture/Theology.

So if the usher is stealing out of the offering plate or the church treasurer is embezzling, it’s just between them and God and there are no moral absolutes, no ‘laws of love’.
