Understanding atheist

Continuing the discussion from Understanding atheist perspective:

  • If I actually believed that God or Jesus would send me to Hell for eternity for failing to empathize with every atheist—or even one atheist—I might try harder.
  • But since I don’t care whether an atheist believes in my God, some other god, or no god whatsoever, I see no particular reason to put “empathizing with atheists” on my current to-do list.
  • Besides, since when does accurately describing someone’s lack of belief demonstrate an inability to understand or empathize with that person?
  • If you’re looking for empathy, maybe Shawn T. Murphy can help?

It’s not an accurate description. That’s the problem I was highlighting.

I got that part. But to paraphrase Ron Reagan’s FFRF’s ad: “I’m a life-long theist, not afraid of burning in hell”, and I still don’t care.
