Rationalization of myths to Extraordinary Natural Causes by a physicist is not science. You might as well ask the cat. Humphreys is part of a large minority of great scientists, including Hawking, who witlessly abuse their high, narrow positions to opine fallaciously beyond their bailiwicks. The oldest biblical records were written after years of oral histories. As time passed and the stories got longer the oral tellers telescoped the oldest by combining several events into one. (This is true of all oral histories studied.) The Hebrew oral history tellers were not intending to relate accurate history. Their intent was to remind their hearers that God had been involved in their history for many generations.

So apparently, there was an birthing technique in Ancient Egypt that required the use of bricks that was described in The Bible; this gives at least some evidence that there were some Israelites (or Israelites to be) that had actually been in Egypt. This bit here isn’t a hill I’d be willing to die on in terms of evidence, as you will see below other ANE peoples did something similar, but it is interesting nonetheless

Although that is a popular position, a lengthy oral history before writing is typical of certain cultures and not others. The ancient Near East was a highly literate one, given the invention of alphabetic writing. A high proportion of people would at least be able to read and write commercial records, and scribes and officials would have been much more skilled with reading and writing. Important events, prophecies, etc. were written down. Certainly there is a process of editing over the years - many of the Old Testament historical books explicitly mention sources, but the assumption that transmission was purely oral for long periods is not substantiated.
A semantic distinction - traditional oral histories are often intended to be accurate in their message but not precise. Misinterpreting them as modern-style just the facts history is inaccurate, however.

What is this word Legend, what style of communication is this, is Legend also similar to word program, but if Legend what to whom are the people called then, who tell this, so it’ll be a legend to be used later in new testament, is this similar to this word programmers?
Programmers program, is what word used back when, Legends are from people who continued so can be used, what are these people called then? What is this word? Programmers now are called what back when? Or when someone writes a fiction book are called what if this fiction book continues, but is Legend as it continues and is used a program? Are these words similar or not similar? Because many fiction books aren’t used in this same way? Yet what if there’s science history as well that caused all of this to be used, even if people think its Legend, if its used all of it, then is this legend science history is not the true time correct, as its still only what? When many people died after this situation of golden calf, how many children were there without having parents and how did these children feel when finding this same golden calf at Canaanites country, that must of been extremely terrifying to deal with the same golden calf all over again., how did these children felt as they’re adults dealing with this same golden calf., that must of been extremely dramatic, due to the fact that the same idol was the reasoning their parents died, yet to arrive to location with same idol., how did that affect these children that are now adults dealing with this, what type of healing did they need to go through and what was their relationship like with YHWH going through this situation, as they didn’t have parents any more due to the first golden calf and now they have to kill many in Canaanites country due to this same golden calf, how did they manage to kill people, when their own parents were killed due to golden calf, how did these children who’s adults now deal with their emotions? My imagination really extremely goes in many directions, going into detail., I can’t imagine leaving home and travel for 40 years, if a person is 5 years old this person would be 45 years old arriving., that would mean if this person is 5 years old a girl., and this girl lost her parents due to golden calf, this girl would have children along the way to this country of the Canaanites, while knowing her husband who’s the father of her children now has to face this idol of a golden calf all over again, and order to kill these people., just like how this girl’s parents were killed due to this same idol, and her fears, tears, how is it that there’s a same idol all over again, how did that happen that there’s the same idol? What all did this girl as now adult go through, as my imagination is in Exodus? If a Legend surely we can add our own imagination as we explore Exodus and any history that is also., so if mix, what is Legend, what is science History, what is communication, what all is communication, through what? , but pretty sure I heard goats when they were packing up. Yes I think they had goats and cattle as well. They had to for the required sacrifices. Goats don’t make a lot of milk in excess of their kids needs, Especially then, before selective breeding for milk goats. And butchering a goat was probably a rare event so sure they could not depend on goats for food on a prolonged desert journey.
My daughter and husband spent 4 years or so with a people group from Western Sahara, and they had goats around that ate table scraps and whatever they could find, which wasn’t much. If there was a big event, like the father coming home from a long trip, they might slaughter a goat.and invite the neighborhood to feast on it. No refrigerators or ice, so it had to be consumed essentially in one day. The same thing went when they slaughtered a camel, which were used quite a bit for meat animals, and of course, that too was spread through the community for consumption. My wife and I visited them there for a couple of weeks, and I never heard of them milking goats, but I they did milk camels. The goat were the typical Spanish goats, so tough, lean, and gamely.
Another problem is, camels are not kosher. Of course, dietary laws were not written until later, so who knows if they had camels. I think it is stated that Abraham had a lot of camels, but that also is problematic as there is no evidence camels had been domesticated at the time of Abraham.
