Small group/community group Northern CA

Greetings everyone. I am just reaching out to see if anyone is interested in meeting fairly regularly in a small group, specifically in Northern CA. I am a physician, and my wife has a PhD in science, and we live in the Sacramento area. Our Christian faith has been strengthened through BioLogos. We are looking for like-minded people in our area for a sense of community, sharing, and spiritual growth.

Wish I lived nearby so that I could join! Welcome to the forum - and I hope you are able to connect with some nearby who would be able to physically meet up if that’s what you have in mind! There are lurkers who read & don’t post, but any of them can private message you too by clicking your avatar and ask about arrangements. Blessings on your efforts. You can also set up “private meets’“ here in the forum by just inviting whomever you wish into a private messaging session.

Wish I could join you also. I am a retired physician, and while I have a friend or two here in Texas with compatible views, they are few and far between. I have been pondering what I can do to improve community and to further the current program with improving the understanding of good science in the public’s eyes, but find it difficult to hold on to much that in meaningful. Perhaps the building of communities in person and online is a good place to start, and hopefully this forum can help with that.

Eric,

My recommendation is to join the American Scientific Affiliation (asa3.org) and take part in this Northern CA group: American Scientific Affiliation

Good suggestion. I see I have let my ASA membership lapse, and need to renew. Great group, and I enjoy their publications.

Thank you, Ted, for this recommendation. I have reached out to them, but it doesn’t look like anything locally is on their calendar. I will keep trying.

Welcome, Dr Larson. I’m a family physician in West Michigan who has also benefited a lot from BioLogos–most of my friends and acquaintances are very superficially YEC.

I think that there may be some CMDA folks who accept evolution, but my own experience with them has been more in the ID range (eg John Patrick) or YEC. I’m not sure if there’s a CMDA group in your area or not. However, most of them are YEC, I think.

Best wishes in your interactions with, and blessing of others!
