Romans 8:20 support death before the fall?

Does Romans 8:20 support that God made the world mortal and have biological death before the fall of man?

I would say it is certainly supportive of such a position.

But considering the Expulsion from Eden narrative has been mis-read by generations of Christians, I would ask how the idea of “no biological death” ever got such a toe-hold in the Western mind…
