Do you know if BioLogos is planning any events in the future? I can’t find any information on that.

What percentage of the people here with PhDs in biology believe in evolution?

Defining “believe in” is critical. Is it “I accept that evolution by natural selection is, as far as we can currently tell, a good description of the normal way to create new kinds of organisms?” Or is it treating evolution as some sort of greater authority, like “I believe in God, the Father Almighty…”?

Not all biology Ph.D. topics have anything to do with evolution, whereas some other fields (such as a paleontological geology Ph.D.) would give the background for being knowledgeable about evolution and other areas of biology.

Also keep in mind that this forum is made up of whoever finds it and feels like posting; surveying the participants is not the same as getting the opinions of BioLogos membership.

My BS and postdoc were in biology and I teach some college biology courses, but Ph.D. was in geology, despite a more biological topic.

I’ve always thought the facts point to evolution and that YEC is not viable science.

Good question. They usually have a meeting every two years, with the last one being in Raleigh, North Carolina. However, they have had to make some staff cuts due to loss of grant money etc. and I don’t think they have made any plans for one next year, which is a shame as it was always good to put a face to the people you hear from. My hope is that the cutting of funds to science nationally with increase interest in organizations like Biologos and increase private funding and participation. Keep your fingers crossed, as I would like to see some of you guys in the flesh.
