Learning From 1976 Vaccine

Here’s an interesting BBC discussion of how excess enthusiasm and poor communication could result in tabloid and popular misperceptions, and even anti-vax reactions. It seems we can’t win for losing, but maybe we can learn from this experience, too.

Interesting stuff. While I remember the swine flu controversy, I never had heard the background.


Human psychology is as important a part of a vaccine program as the science itself. We have to remember that we humans can be quite irrational at times.
