That’s cool. This reminds me of the somewhat recent phenomenon of the ideal launch angle. Of course in a vacuum with a non-rotating ball this would be 45 degrees but it’s a little different in reality:

Baseball is paying attention to golf. Club manufacturers and PGA pros have been studying launch angle and spin rates for years. Besides advances in club technology, which won’t help MLB, golfers have been changing the way they swing the driver to achieve optimum launch angle with minimum spin. It’s one of the biggest reasons why everyone seems to hit it 300 yards these days. It also may explain why baseballs have been jumping out of the park this year!
