Jumping in here at the end without following most of the discussion above but from my perspective no, the supernatural isn’t essential to Christianity. I think all that is necessary is the recognition that what “God” signifies is beyond our kenning. It isn’t necessary to look for the spooky hand of the beyond-natural everywhere. The point is we wouldn’t recognize or understand it anyway.
