I may have found what changed nature in our past

The idea of the verse was not dwelling with man but that His spirit would not always strive with mankind. That does not mean He would not be with believers. But it could indicate that some big change was coming for mankind.
Some translations say this

Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not forever dwell and strive with man, for he also is flesh; but his days shall yet be 120 years.

And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”

And the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not remain with mankind for ever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.’

My Spirit shall not always plead with Man; for he indeed is flesh; but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not struggle with humans forever, because they are flesh and blood. They will live 120 years.”
And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”
Then Jehovah said, “My Spirit must not forever be disgraced in man, wholly evil as he is. I will give him 120 years to mend his ways.”
Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not contend with humans for ever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.’

The mortality of man is mentioned. And a struggle God had with men who were mortal (but lived almost ten centuries)
Then we are told mankind had 120 years. When that time elapsed what happened? Man no longer lived ten centuries! Not even one century usually! So we can say God had a lot less striving to do with a wicked person. About 9 centuries less.
We can rule out the 120 years being some life span. No one lived that in all the genealogies given! Then we know also after the 120 years something suddenly affected the minds of mankind so that language was confused. Mankind would have drastically less time to contend with God. Mankind also would be weakened as a whole because he could no longer talk to each other. Then also, mankind was separated as continents moved apart from each other. What was the mechanism for all of this? All these sudden changes? God. The One by whom all things consist and are held together. The force that binds and controls all other forces.

It is true that people that reject the clear detailed record of Eve the first woman by calling it a myth for no reason are disbelieving it. Nothing to do with self righteousness. It has to do with faith and belief. Or not

Calling it a “record” is a literary judgment. It is not that kind of literature, it is most likely a form of mythologized history. People who have studied the Garden stories more deeply probably know the actual genre involved, but “calling it a myth for no reason” is just a statement of ignorance.

This:

is a real claim, which has been rendered groundless.

The oldest confirmed meteoric iron is older than that:

The earliest surviving prehistoric iron artifacts, from the 4th millennium BC in Egypt,[1]

Citing the dagger but not the earlier artefacts is cherry-picking. I note that the age of the dagger is closer to the usual date for the flood than the age of the older items.

Not that it matters - meteoric iron doesn’t need to be smelted, so meteoric iron doesn’t affect the date at which iron was first smelted.

Tubal-cain wasn’t murderous.

I didn’t say the names weren’t symbolic.

I did say that:

which you omitted from your reply. Since your claim is that symbolic names imply the same generation, it really ought to have been addressed.

This also undercuts the idea that similar names would imply the same generation.

You haven’t produced a single example of people from the same generation having similar names. Not even one.

Is there something about the YEC movement that leads to children believing maths is of the devil so they skip class?

It would explain why YEC advocates consistently make mistakes in trivial arithmetic and geometry.

  • That is precisely the point in dispute. You say, “we have a record of “a nature change” in Scripture.” Where? Genesis 6:3 does not say nature changed. Genesis 10:25 does not say the laws or forces of nature changed. Colossians 1:17 does not say God partially withdrew from creation or altered gravity, electromagnetism, or the nuclear forces.
  • You have inferred a nature change by combining those passages with several additional assumptions. You have then proposed a mechanism for the change. And now you are referring to the resulting construction as something “recorded” in Scripture. That is exactly the distinction we have been discussing:
    • “What Scripture records:” are the actual words and narratives in the text.
    • “What you infer from those records:” are that around Peleg’s time God partially withdrew, thereby altering the physical operation of nature.
    • The first is recorded. The second is your interpretation.
  • So before discussing the “mechanism and cause” of the nature change, you need to establish the antecedent proposition: “Where does Scripture actually say that nature changed?”
  • Otherwise you are asking folks to explain the mechanism of an event whose occurrence has first been supplied by your interpretation.
  • Your complaint about “spam diversions” is particularly weak. The distinction between “what Scripture says” and “what you infer from Scripture” isn’t a diversion from this thread. It is the epistemological foundation of your entire thesis.

But you read it like it is.

Calling it a record is Scriptural. It records genealogy, creation order and sequence and events. Trying to pretend it is something else is doing violence to the language and text. The bible respects the text in places the creation is mentioned. You seek to do violence to it. You do not get to call the moon cheese or the record God gave man and that was confirmed by jesus a myth.

If a satellite has an elliptical orbit, that is not flat. Any circular orbit path is not flat. Offering us a picture of a sewer cover is out of context. Just one of a series of attempts by some people to try and make Scripture look wrong and silly

Where does scripture say it is a record?

Where? Everywhere in the first chapters of Genesis the world and nature and lifespans and spirits etc are recorded in a DIFFERENT way that we know things to be now. Then, later we see things change a lot. Languages, nations separated, lives shortened by some 9 centuries etc. Clear and stark changes. Changes for which science can have no explanation.
So yes a mechanism/reason for the sudden changes is worth thinking about.
Scripture gives us the reason nature is the way it is and was the way it was. Scripture tells us what holds this universe and ALL THINGS together. We know that. It is no mystery. God is why and how all things consist, hold together and exist. Therefore all forces of nature depend on God. If God does not wish to strive for ten centuries with a bunch of little Hitler’s and Nimrods and Cains and Stalins and Trumps and etc then He can change how long they live. Easier than snapping your fingers. If He does not want man to communicate as easy to be able to do bad things, boom. He can and did suddenly change how everyone can understand things. If He wanted plants to grow slower, maybe keep make working a little harder and keep him busier or etc. Boom. Trees would no longer grow in weeks. If he did not want angels to have as complete an access to earth and man and be messing things up with having angel kids or whatever…boom. Suddenly spirits would have a harder time visiting earth etc. God is in control and all forces jump into place like waiters at a big banquet doing what He wants. Gravity, the nuclear forces, etc etc. All can be repurposed and changed as He likes when He likes. That is the mechanism for the nature change that happened. It is also the mechanism for the changes that will soon happen in the end and millennium. He is also what makes the universe roll up like a Venetian blind one day and be no more. He is also the reason a new heaven and earth will come to exist. Boom. Knowing all this is part of knowing Who He is. The Almighty. The Creator. The One who died for us and can take tiny remains from the bottom of the sea or the grave or anywhere else and bring us to life in a new eternal body! That is who He is.

That’s your opinion. It is an opinion that the text itself does not claim.

‘But at the beginning of creation God “made them male and female. … For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” So they are no longer two, but one’ (Mark 10:6–8).
Not billions of years ago. But at the beginning of creation man and woman were created. Jesus said so. We know His record is true.
Paul confirms this
‘For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. … So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit’ (1 Corinthians 15:21–22, 45).
John bore record as well that the record of Genesis was real.
‘Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous’ (1 John 3:12).
Heb 11 testifies of the record of people in Genesis as well (Noah, Enoch, Abel)
Paul confirms Eve came from the man ‘For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man’ (1 Corinthians 11:8–9).
Also in (1 Corinthians 11:11–12)
Jesus Himself bore record Noah was real.
‘Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the Ark. Then the Flood came and destroyed them all’ (Luke 17:26–27).
For the records of the genealogies it says this
Gen 5:1 This is the document containing the family records of Adam. On the day that God created man, he made him in the likeness of God;
This is the record of Adam’s descendants. On the day God created humanity, he made them to resemble God
This is the history of Adam’s family. When God created people, he made them like himself.
This is the written account of Adam and his descendants. When God created humans, he made them in the likeness of God.
These are the family records of the descendants of Adam. On the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God;
This is the record of the generations of Adam. When God created Adam, he made him in the likeness of God.
The various translations illustrate exactly what it is.
It is therefore an official record by God confirmed in the rest of Scripture.
Not some Mickey Mouse Myth!

That’s not what it says. There are some pretty crappy translation attempts in your collection, and you had to cherry-pick them to get your position.

It says it six ways from Sunday. In each translation we see it is a record.

High school maths wins again.

Yep. Any conic section is flat by definition.

How sweet it is

Look at the moon. It’s path is anything but flat.

An ellipse is generated by intersecting a flat plane with a cone. Since the ellipse is contained entirely on one plane it is by definition flat. Notice the use of “plane” in the definition.

ellipse: a closed plane curve generated by a point moving in such a way that the sums of its distances from two fixed points is a constant, a plane section of a right circular cone that is a closed curve

plane: a flat or level surface

But perhaps you are thinking of something different about the shape of the curve. So how do you define “flat”?
