I may have found what changed nature in our past

  • Exactly. “It is plain to me” is a statement about your interpretation of Scripture. It is not the same statement as “Scripture plainly says it.” And that distinction is the entire point I have been making.

@moderators one of you needs to step in and end this thread. It’s gone nowhere since the OP, and is doomed to continue going nowhere.

How can putting man to sleep, operating, taking a bone, and creating the first woman be an interpretation? That is clearly recorded.

The topic is how a nature change happened and we have a record of it in Scripture. We are also discussing the mechanism and cause for the change. It has not been addressed much yet. Better to address the topic rather than spam diversions and then complain about it

But if two three-toed sloths needed to travel from their home in South America, it would take them roughly 1,205 years.

With a local flood, the Ark would be the highest structure in the flat landscape standing at 30 cubits high, higher than the ‘mountains’ that were 12 cubits high. Wildlife in the area would instinctively flee (God sending them) towards the Ark.

Because it is the way you interpret the text. You have decided that it records actual history and that is your judgement. I can call Genesis 1 science fiction (fantasy might be a better fit) until the cows come home, but given science fiction didn’t exist at the time it was written I would be wrong even if that is the way I see the text.

No, you have just asserted that you think you have seen this in Scripture. Which is strange given it was never noticed by any of the biblical scholars that have been studying the text for a couple of millennium.

You have not provided a mechanism using the normal definition of the word.

The original sloth kind may have walked faster. With the world joined together still after the flood, migration was pretty easy.

How do you interpret it exactly?
If God is part of all things in that He holds it all together, then His presence directly affects the forces which exist. If He ‘stepped back’ somewhat when He no longer so closely strove with men that would affect things. If we reduced the gravity pulling on a man by putting him in a spaceship out in space, then that changes how the force of gravity affects him. If science could alter the strong and weak nuclear force, that would change things. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the force that holds together and governs all forces (God) changed the way they interacted, then all nature would be affected.
All nature was affected. Weather. Lifespans, the way spirits could exist on earth, tree growth rates etc. Science merely sits there and assumes what we see is what always was. Then they model the past based on that belief.

How could God ‘step back’? He has to remain every where or things fall apart. Why would He do so just to make your interpretation correct?

You need to read up on the fine tuning of natural laws (often used to show the existence of God). The slightest chance in any number of natural laws or constants results in life as we know it no longer being possible. In fact this is probably a good counter argument to your idea.

I said ‘somewhat’ He could have withdrawn from a more direct relationship to the world. Withdrawn from always striving with mankind. Withdrawn the ability of spirits to directly intermingle. Withdrawn from men living almost a thousand years. Wicked men. Limiting their ability to live so long. Limiting their ability to even talk to each other. Limiting contact of some peoples with others by separating continents. Playing a less direct role so to speak. Of course He would still be there and available to those who seek and call Him. It;s not like He abandoned earth. But since He holds the universe together, He could change the way He interacts and thus change nature. Science can’t see the forces or God, the force behind all forces. They just see how it now works.
The Superforce that holds it all together can change the way nature works. It was not some natural process or cycle.

Accelerated is YEC’s favorite word.

I’ve heard YEC promote accelerated light travel, accelerated tectonic drift, accelerated radioactive decay, accelerated population growth, accelerated hyper-evolution and speciation, accelerated algae growth, accelerated tree rings, accelerated cratering, accelerated glacier accumulation and melting, accelerated varve accumulation, accelerated cave and speleothems formation, accelerated erosion, accelerated magnetic reversals, and accelerated crystal growth.

But accelerated sloth walking? That one is new.

They mistakenly envision a change in what exists. It is very different from the forces themselves being changed. For example if forces causing radioactive decay did not exist, neither would the radioactive decay. So it does not need to be just one force being changed. The forces that exist cause all that stuff to happen. If God is the Superforce holding together all things, and determining how the forces of nature work, then He can easily change nature. Harmoniously.

And now we have entered the realm of science fiction. All in the name of rescuing an interpretation.

He could also create the entire universe last Thursday. Seems to be the easier method.

Sir, if the strong force did not exist, everything would decay and promptly. Further, just accelerating radioactive decay would also result in decay of what we know to be stable matter. If the electroweak and strong force did not exist, then the universe would essentially be dark matter.

If you want to talk about forces and tuning, you need to spend some time learning the basics.

Scripture is not science fiction. It says by Him all things consist. So atoms consist because of Him. The forces that hold atoms together. The world exists and nature exists because of Him. Any move He makes can alter the way things are. The way nature exists. Since we know nature was different in the past, and we know when it changed and we know God mentions a big change coming in 120 years, it is a safe deduction that He is the reason for the change.
He did create the entire universe. He also hold it together. He also will make it vanish like a curtain rolled up one day. He also will create a new heavens and earth one day. So when we find out that nature is different than it was, He has to be involved.

The strong force does exist. If that force and all other forces were changed somewhat, you wouldn’t know it. The people didn’t it back then. They just started dying like flies and living many centuries less than their parents and grandparents had lived. They did not know what forces and laws changed or how.
If there was no decay in that former nature it does not mean isotopes would all be stable. It means that whatever processes were going on in that time were not the processes we are familiar with now
God knows what He is doing. He would not just affect one force that would ‘destroy the universe’ He has it all in perfect control and balance, even when He changes things.

Your premise is wrong, so there is no deduction to draw.

True. But it is apparent that you do not.

Prove Genesis is wrong?
Life became different quickly. You can doubt it but cannot change the record of the past in Scripture.
