This reminds me of some science fiction where people can copy their minds into software – and the memories of what such an avatar does can be copied back to the person. In one story a certain important guy has at least a half-dozen avatars of himself running, which requires copying memories back and forth so the avatars are all up to date . . . .
and then one of the avatars rebels when he realizes that the next update will actually end his existence since the code is overwritten, not augmented.
KI have read several different flavors of sci-fi on that same basic theme, both short story and full novel. Interesting speculations.
This is a job that requires one to exist in Airplane Mode.
I borrowed the book from my library, because of this thread! Really fun!
There’s some science here somewhere . . . .
“Why are you here” brings to mind a local church’s publicity and outreach slogan: “You are here. Why?”
They asked for the cheapest billboard in town to put it on. The billboard company told them they didn’t want the cheapest billboard. They said they did. The billboard company said the cheapest billboard was on a house of ill repute. The church took it anyway. The slogan was detrimental to the host building’s business, and the church got both plenty of publicity and a free upgrade to a more desirable billboard.
Is it my imagination or is that sheep waiting for the command to go at the start of the video?
