Read the article. He’s in trouble.
I can thankfully say that this exact sort of occurrence would be impossible at our current church (and current situation at church), for two obvious interconnected reasons: we have no youth pastor, and I am the only regular attendee between 10 and 25. Also, all of the female regular attendees over 10 are either married or widowed.
Insane, isn’t it?
Peter Jackson is SBC?
The latest is the this youth pastor has been placed on administrative leave.
That’s pretty weak trouble in my opinion.
I had never even heard of “youth pastors” until my adult years. Holy movie night, Batman!
Baptist churches have probably had them since there were youth. For some of us, it’s normal. Maybe came out of the Sunday School movement of the late 19th C. I’m not sure. It would be an interesting research project. If I ever had time.
I went to a Baptist church when I was in elementary school, and it was a small church with only one minister. After that my only experience with Baptist churches was when I visited my grandparents in East Texas, and that church was even smaller. The town was very small also. The pastor wasn’t even full-time, had to have another job.
Life has changed in churches, and while there are still a lot of small Baptist churches with bivocational ministers, the one I attend has a Sunday attendance of about 800, and a ministerial staff of 7 full time and 3 part time ministers plus support staff. Is seems people are busy and things previously done by volunteers is now done by staff at times. Not a good thing in my opinion, but maybe a necessity of modern life.
Back to humor to keep on topic:
They could canvas the neighborhood in pairs. Donned in white lab coats and safety goggles, of course.
“Before we leave can we just leave this small primer on thermodynamics with you?”
My son pointed this out to me on the way into school today. We both had a good chuckle. I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, and I’m afraid I started saying gullible out loud
There were several school rooms where I teach that actually did have the world “gullible” penciled on the ceiling - as a reaction to people always telling others it was so.
Easier to read when you roll your eyes?
Although maybe then it should be “Not gullible.”
I think it refers to when you tell someone gullible is written on the ceiling, and they look up because they are gullible. To actually have it written there, is then ironic because it is true.
Hopefully you won’t find that condescending. That means talking down to people
Ah. I haven’t ever done it nor heard of it being done within my senior recall (nor has my more senior wife ; - ).
Yeah, this would get old pretty fast.
