Humor in Science and Theology

The herbivore ones were the beta versions. The omnivore and carnivores ones were the Alpha/official versions. Further evidence that omnivores are superior to herbivores.

Happy Pentecost, everybody!

Thanks @Paraleptopecten! I will be able to sleep much better now.
I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening and most of the night digging through indexes, databases and microfilm, using my super-librarian powers (Google) and found the 100% true story you referenced regarding The Apple Find and Replant here!

I’ll refrain from asking about damage that may have been caused by so much exposure to radiation for so long.

I do wonder what certain philosophically inclined science organizations might do with the idea of functioning fossilized seeds or DNA and what that will prove regarding … well all sorts of things! And I’m curious about the preservative properties of radioactivity now.

Thanks for making me aware of such a great, highly-reliable news source, too. I will most definitely be adding this one to my professional tool kit.

Folks, don’t forget to subscribe to the (now defunct) Weekly World News, the World’s Only Reliable Newspaper. Almost as good as the Onion.
But nothing beats The Wittenberg Door, one of very few things that makes me wish I were just a few years older; old enough to have understood it in college, when I could still subscribe.
Always a bit late on the uptake.

Thanks for this, Timothy.

Except that it was originally intended to be a serious tabloid.

11 HINTS YOU MIGHT BE DESCENDED FROM ALIENS - Weekly World News tells me that I am definitely not, given that I partly fulfill only 1 & 3.

Another great one was given to my grandfather as the fulfillment of his geology class assignment to find a news story involving dinosaurs:

Found it in my library’s Hoopla database. “Dio the invader” was a trip. Awesome closing music for the credits.

I confess I think every one of these is hilarious. And now you know just how shameless a punner I can be.

In response, Mark, here is a Freudian bi-lingual pun for you:
What comes between fear and sex?

I’d like to buy a clue. I am a horrible linguist.

Oh, sorry, Mark! I am often confounding people with the obscure.

4 (vier) in German sounds like “fear”, and 6 (sechs) sounds an awful like “sex.” 5 (fünf), well, sounds like “fünf”.

This is Toki, a wise wanderer who heals the sick and defends the helpless. Rings a bell, right?

Yes it is. The illustrations in these books are beautiful.

My favorite pun as a kid:

If you’re an American when you walk into a bathroom and you’re an American when you leave the bathroom, what are you inside the bathroom? European.

When you leave the bathroom you’re Finnish
