Great Washington Post article on John Glenn's faith and acceptance of evolution

Great quotes:

“To look out at this kind of creation and not believe in God is to me impossible,” Glenn told reporters in 1998, just after returning from his final trip to space at age 77. “It just strengthens my faith.”

and

“I don’t see that I’m any less religious by the fact that I can appreciate the fact that science just records that we change with evolution and time, and that’s a fact. It doesn’t mean it’s less wondrous and it doesn’t mean that there can’t be some power greater than any of us that has been behind and is behind whatever is going on.”

it is sad to think that the original astronauts have all died now. They were billed as the best of the best, in perfect health, incredibly smart. and fearless test pilots to boot. John Glenn was deservedly a national hero. That he was also an EC only increases my admiration for him.
