Well yes. I did not want to be overly technical and scientific and lose those who are not so inclined. My main objective was to be respectful of the scientific evidence and scripture. Aligning them in a way that respected both equally required some interpretation based on what seemed reasonable.
Have you ever considered that the days of creation were not long or short, but long and short? The text clearly says that the sun was created to "serve as signs to mark the sacred times, days, and years. Before it was set in place at the end of day four, there was no such thing as a sacred time, or a year or a day.
It is here that God is instituting the 24-hour day. Previously, God had defined day as the presence of light. At the end of day four, He is redefining it. A day is now reckoned by the Sun. This leaves time for the Big Bang during the first part of day four, while leaving in place a literal Adam and Eve, created a few thousand years ago, and a 24- hour Sabbath rest for God and His people,
It is interesting to consider how it may all fit together. In the end, I wind up sticking with a non-concordant view of Genesis. I agree that Genesis 1 is in part written to bring sacred times into an orderly fashion. As Jesus said in Mark 2:
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."
But it also leaves the contradiction between the Biblical timing for the appearance of the first animals vs the much longer palaeontological record.

You’re in good company – some ancient rabbis made this point, too.
Good observation.
Um, no – though the real problem is you’re joining the crew trying to stuff an ancient text into a modern worldview straightjacket.
I am simply explaining that a literal interpretation of the creation story allows time for the Big Bang, .
I believe the Bible tells the same story as Creation, because God is the author of both. It is for this reason I believe that their was a worldwide flood. I don’t think this is an unscientific view, but rather a minority view, much as evolution was 100 years ago..
That said, the longer palaeontological record can be reconciled with the biblcal record, at least partially, by recognizing that there are two sets of sedimentary rocks. The lowest layers with microbes and plants are ancient, billions of years old, While the ones that contain birds, fish, and mammals were laid down during the Great flood of Noah, just a few thousand years ago.
You might want to take a look at The Defeat of Flood Geology by Flood Geology
The basic problem is trying to decide where in the geologic column to place the Noachian Flood. Turns out there isn’t a good place that can satisfy all of the criteria.
There aren’t any layers that contain plants but not animals.
Of course it does, but it does so as ancient literature, not as some sort of modern diary.
BTW, the text doesn’t actually support a global flood, just one of the known world.
That mangles both the text and the science.
Don’t miss this Bible calculation which aligns with the half life of Uranium 238
There is a problem with assigning 24 hours to day 1 to 3. Until the sun was created on day 4, “to rule over the day and over the night”, there is no way to know how long those days were.
ChatGPT generated 8 different combinations of an integer base and power that generates a number close to 4.58 billion. The exact number can also be generated by 2^21 x 3^7 which doesn’t match anything.
Dear Brother,
Thank you for your reply.
Consider this “may be correct” Understanding,
The creation account should be understood as a type and antitype. There is a Bible teaching which says, that the formation of sun should have happened in the 1st Genesis day and the sun was ASSIGNED to earth in the 4th Genesis day.
This genesis account of the sun being assigned in the 4th day, is a antitype of Jesus Christ (Sun of righteousness) coming to earth in the 4th 1000 years from the formation of Adam.
Eagerly waiting for a better understanding from your side.
Thank you.
Consider this Bible chronology which is presently the most accurate. Thank you.
Most accurate? According to folks in the Bible Student movement?
And it isn’t a scientific account of the creation of the universe/earth.
That is a new one for me. And who decided that the author of Genesis 1 got it wrong?
Given Jesus said, “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.” we can safely ignore this chronology.
Interesting article. I always wondered (but not enough to research) how the Watch Tower and Jehovah’s Witnesses were interrelated.
Dear Sir, I am not in any denomination. You can check and evaluate that chronology in CHATGPT or Gemini or Claude for accuracy. thank you
Our Lord said “Only the Father Knows” BEFORE he ascended back into heaven and sat at the right hand of the father.
Please read Revelation 1:1 “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His slaves the things which must soon happen; and He indicated this by sending it through his angel to His Slave John.”
so, as per this verse, after ASCENDING into heaven, all the hidden secrets were revealed to our Lord. And our Lord has revealed it to us too in revelation.
I used ChatGPT and it wasn’t impressed.
I continue to be amazed at how good (and easy to use) ChatGPT can be.
Then please provide chapter and verse where I can find this hidden secret. And Revelation does not provide any concrete timeline either.
