Discovering my Family are Conspiracy Theorists

Well yes, conspiracies do happen, but when people talk about conspiracy theories, they are usually proposing conspiracies that are either not substantiated by any evidence, or that are ludicrously complicated and impractical, or that require too many people to keep quiet about them for too long a time, or are more expensive than the alternative mainstream scenario, or that have too many different ways of going wrong, or that serve no practical purpose whatsoever.

This should illustrate the problem with them:

A pharma company covering up data showing a vaccine is harmful is a conspiracy. All of the world’s vaccine researchers, epidemiologists, and public health officials working together to cover up data showing that a vaccine is harmful is a conspiracy theory.

All I know is that my livelihood was threatened and I was coerced into taking something I didn’t trust or have all the information regarding. I did not make an informed decision. My bodily autonomy was abused that day. My choice was “submit or starve”… But they care about my well-being!

There is a time when enough of the rest of society has become informed about an issue that is so pressing, that it is appropriate for compulsion of law or social pressure to play its necessary role on the few remaining ones who either fail or refuse to become informed. Seatbelt laws or prohibitions on domestic abuse are among the host of laws and compulsions that probably you have already accepted and likely have no problems with.

Accept when that mandate is poorly applied in a stupidly bureaucratic manner which then drives the conspiracy theorists further down the road to nowhere.

If my memory serves me, @glipsnort agreed that getting vaccinated after recovery from the Delta variant was not a clear cut decision, and yet I was having to consider what I would do as I faced an impending mandate. I had real anecdotal concerns. One friend had a heart attack and died a couple weeks after receiving the vaccine, a coworkers wife who was a nurse had severe pain unlike anything she experienced before, and a customer’s friend had a stroke. So for me… oh and my doctor advised me against getting vaccinated after I had recovered from the virus… so for me, as a husband and father, it was a life or death decision that was being forced upon me for no good reason that I could tell.

A couple months before Delta, the CDC published a study where they found 85% herd immunity through vaccination or exposure (my memory is fuzzy on the specifics). After Delta we had to be into the 90% range. But nobody in the media mentioned those numbers as we were all looking at a nation wide mandate through OSHA.

Regarding Stirling, in spite of all the snarkiness (which I have come to expect here), @pevaquark linked some actual data. I am quite surprised that Josh Stirling’s data does not appear to match. This is pretty serious. It’s possible that Stirling made it up to make a profit off the insurance industry! For me, no longer being convinced at this time that people are dying from this vaccine has allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief.

So I am honestly grateful for someone taking me up on my request and finding meaningful data for this important issue (take note, @Christy).

But I still want to emphasize my key point. Somebody rescue your credibility and acknowledge that Fauci and the CDC and others screwed something up!!

The above may put Josh Stirling in the same camp as Fauci and the CDC. Like the lie about “lab leak is a conspiracy theory” when they clearly knew better. Shocking how many PhDs signed on to “Vaccine immunity is 5.49 times better than natural immunity.” Talk about pseudo-science! Lies and misinformation, deceit and deceptions. Sad.

Oh, and I forgot to point out that Cuomo killed more New Yorkers than Bin Laden AND lied about it. If he wasn’t a sexual predator he might still be governor.

Ooo, 20 questions! People here clearly love games! Yeah, but for you to make that argument you have to assert that the R0 for covid was thousands of times higher than other flus. Sorry! Wanna play again?

I wrote a single sentence, which has an underlying truth to it, and rather than try to find that truth, like so many here, you nitpick on the actual words. You seem to be obsessed with “the first week.” So yes, that study happens to have been done fairly early. But what was communicated to the public? Covid can last on surfaces for days and WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE! People can lie directly or with selective truth or with silence. When companies and businesses a year later were still in panic mode about every surface anyone goes near, the balanced truth about this was not communicated with any meaningful clarity in a timely way. I went with what was publicly communicated, and made an assumption that it was simply not studied. You have pointed out that it was studied, correct, but the results were manipulated into the panic. How is that better?

Cool! Someone who actually cares about my FEEEEEELings! Not. What a hypocrite. You don’t care about peoples’ feelings, except as a way to win points.

What I really love about this forum is the number of people who are so full of themselves – elitist, talking down to anyone who challenges their holy orthodoxy. Apparently they think that is how science progresses, suppressing questions and trying to antagonize questioners. Especially if they have no meaningful answers. “I have the white lab coat on here. You will genuflect.”

Regarding what should be done, having people simply tell the truth and admit their lies would be a great beginning. If laws were broken, then enforce them. What the hell else do you expect me to say? Especially when you can’t even admit anything was done wrong.

Thanks to @benjamin87 and @heymike3 for examples of the utter mismanagement of covid by authorities.

and???

Viral transmission integrates the myriad factors involved in an epidemic, such as immunological naivety and herd immunity, asymptomatic contagion, cellular efficiencies, virulence, social factors, robustness outside the host, and more, and these factors can and do vary widely.

If not to masking and social distancing, to what do you attribute the collapse of the flu seasons?

Careful Marty. When the lab coats begin to realize that your inconvenient truths are shining too much light into their official narrative, one of them inevitably decides that enough has been shared on this thread, and it’s time to shut it down.

To all you official narrative parrots here…

Do you think that being required to wear a mask while standing up in a restaurant, only to take the mask off after being seated, was a rational science-based decision?

Has anyone ever actually isolated a virus, Ron?

Seatbelt and motorcycle helmet laws are an infringement on individual rights. Domestic abuse laws involve one person intentionally infringing upon the rights of another, and as such should be subject to the same laws that say someone can’t bust you in the head with a 2x4 just for walking down the street and get away with it.

Being forced (or even coerced) into undergoing any medical procedure (especially an untested experimental one) is strictly prohibited by the Nuremberg Code, and I pray with all my might that justice will be served on all those who perpetrated this crime against humanity - and that all those who applauded it will suffer shame and disgrace for the rest of their lives.

Seatbelt and motorcycle helmet laws are for the common good (not to mention speed limits and other traffic and highway safety laws), lessening costs for everyone: the multiple costs involved for multiple first responders, ER and trauma medical costs, insurance premiums and I suspect more. Did I mention lessening family grief and delaying funeral expenses.

Christians should not be all about my selfish rights and maybe pay a little more attention to the several scriptures about submission to authorities.

This pretty well speaks for itself:

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Philipians 2:2-3

You can’t rightly conflate the two, Dale. Traffic safety laws help to protect infringement on other people’s rights to travel safely. Me riding a motorcycle without a helmet or driving without a seatbelt on can only possibly hurt me - nobody else.

I have already prepared myself for the possibility that the end of times Jesus describes in Mark 13:19-20 might occur in my lifetime. If it does, and I have to live as a slave to a New World Order government or whatever, I will be the most righteous, humble and God-fearing slave that I possibly can… up until any directives from my masters cause me to go against God and Jesus or break any of their commands.

Until that time comes, you calling my individual rights “selfish” is the same as me demanding you to encase yourself in bubble wrap at all times for your own safety, and calling it “your selfish rights” if you object. Because who knows, without the bubble wrap, you just might fall down in your own home and hurt yourself, causing “multiple costs involved for multiple first responders, ER and trauma medical costs”, right?

Do you suppose this means that you should encase yourself in bubble wrap at all times because I take it upon myself to deem it is in the best interests of others? If not, then neither does it mean that I should be forced to wear a motorcycle helmet (or get an untested experimental medical procedure) just because you deem it is in the best interest of others. Agreed?

What part about inflating everyone’s medical costs and insurance premiums due to your more severe injuries did you not understand? (I forgot to mention legal costs, didn’t I.)

Did you buy into the Jade Helm conspiracy theory too?

Of course. How does that have anything to do with my statement? Are you here to waste time?

So then I presume you’re currently out buying that bubble wrap, right? Come on, man… you’re making yourself look ridiculous here. Why not just go lock yourself into a padded cell that you never leave so you don’t risk accidentally falling down and breaking your arm and making our insurance premiums go up? Get real, dude.

Never heard of it. But why do you call the New World Order a conspiracy theory? The ones pushing for it openly admit it, and even push the catch phrase, “You’ll own absolutely nothing and be happy.”
