Part 3, which integrates political with biological evolution and add dialectical materialism to the theory, is at Integrating biological with political evolution (Theory of Wise Design, 3 of 4) - Faith & Science Conversation - The BioLogos Forum. This part integrates ethics, adding a form of Mill’s utilitarianism to the theory, because, as stated in part 3, a Creator who uses evolution as a tool is interested in maximizing freedom of will, and thus, liberty.
I have 90K more words written on the Theory of Teleological Evolution (TTE) as outlined and linked at this post’s end. 100 of 400 references are done and included. There is one chapter to finish.
And I here need to point out the theory is on TELEOLOGICAL, not THEOLOGICAL evolution. that’s frequently led to long diatribes on the title in forums like this.

TTE as a Consequentialist Ideology
Among many other possible predictions, Teleological Evolution predicts future ethical conflicts. Unlike most other paradigms in science, Teleological Evolution explicitly defines a hypothetical cause for what ‘ought to be’ from what ‘is.’ Technically stated, the theory bridges Hume’s guillotine (in "Treatise of Human Nature, 1739), restated by G. E. Moore in formal propositional logic as the “open ended question” (in “Principia Ethica,” 1903). The cause may only be hypothetical, but contemplation of the cause reveals possible results from the current human condition.
To determine causes, TTE first defines a theory of nature upon which meaningful statements can be made. It starts with a theory of knowledge, based on Kripke’s epistemology. Then there is a neo-Wittgensteinian reinterpretation of Schopenhauer’s theory of nature, with some existentialist extensions. That leads to a pataphysics on the mind/body distinction, and a new theory of power.
On its basis, Chapters 4~10 contain a dialectic on the historical conflict between divine and natural law since the origins of civilization. Chapter 11 uses this as the basis for defining a consequentialist deontology similar to Mill’s utilitarianism. One interesting discovery has been that many theological doctrines have specific points of conflict with the theory of evolution, most notably on the problem of evil.
The Intrinsic Inequity of Evolution
Many assume that the TTE premise is wrong due to injustice. Injustice is a natural consequence of evolution. In TTE, a Creator is not concerned with ensuring we receive justice due to natural processes or human action under free will. Instead, the Creator is interested in how we respond to the problems that face us. Justice is a human creation. The Creator is only interested in what we do with what we have.
Due to free will, many choose to deny that a Creator could be ‘unjust,’ for which reason many philosophers have stated that an afterlife is necessary for Divine Justice to exist, and the naive protest that it is ‘evidence’ against a Creator. In TTE, the nature of law and justice becomes a major issue, because it only exists as much as human beings make it happen.

Just as physical evolution creates physical problems, such as disease, social evolution causes social problems, which specifically are, from the Creator’s point of view, hindrances to free will. The Creation is not perfectly fair to all individuals. Some endure physical suffering from biological factors. Some are enslaved or forced to have particular beliefs. From the Creator’s perspective, neither physical nor mental hindrance to free will is desirable. But again, the Creator cannot create forced consequences of either physical or social processes, because that would be proof of a Creator’s existence, and thus destroy the more perfect experience of life to which evolution slowly progresses.

There’ve been 8,000 comments on sections I shared while figuring out the consequences of the question “WHAT IF a Creator used evolution as a tool? What would that MEAN?” Since I first suggested that dialectical materialism and consequentialist ethics result from the premise of wise design three years ago, not one stated that the theory still explains and predicts political and ethical problems without belief in the premise. Less than a hundred didn’t say the premise was wrong, and 90% demanded evidence for God’s existence before reading anything.
Some people think that the existence of order, life, and ourselves comprise evidence for a Creator. Some don’t. Both conclusions require an inductive step that is inherently unprovable by the nature of the rules of formal logic. As a scientific theory, TTE is indifferent to ‘belief in’ nor ‘denial of belief in’ a God or Creed. That is a matter of faith or absence of it.
From the prejudices I’ve encountered from all sides of the Creationism debate, I had to conclude the USA might not be ready to consider my theory until after a war on its own soil. And with the hopeless flailing of partisan rivalry on the undeniable facts of climate change so far, war is at most decades away.
As Hegel said, “The Owl of Minerva spreads her wings only with the falling of the dusk.” He was saying that we can only understand the nature of an era when it is reaching its end.
The Owl of Minerva is ruffling her feathers. One day, people will look back at the Ukraine war, fighting over whether grain will ship from Siberia or Europe to an Africa that is already boiling to death. And they will say, “World War had already started.” We can see the Owl of Minerva’s future flight already. That is what TTE’s Theory of Nature has to say. But those stuck in Plato’s Cave can’t even see the Owl of Minerva. They are too busy quibbling over their own shadows, and only those who shrug aside the chains and climb out of the cave and see the Light of Truth.
