But where is the logic in that, George? The time it took for design is irrelevant to the result. If it takes a man ten years to design a building, or if it takes him two months, but it is the same building, then we know that the time is irrelevant. The point of detecting or determining design is not the time period, but the complexity. In fact, part of determing the design probability is the improbability of an undesigned process producing the end product within the assumed time available. But even if endless time were available, what would be the most likely end results? Would we expect a hummingbird, or a simple morass of slimy bacteria devouring each other?
The logic is simple: God can do it either way: quickly or slowly. If you look at the natural evidence that your eyes and mind provide you, the evidence from nature tells us it took a long time.
If you canât believe natural evidence ⌠then you will remain a Young Earth Creationist.
But you should understand why people in BioLogos canât join you . . . they accept the natural testimony of their eyes. You certainly canât tell BioLogos people that God could NOT have done it slowly.

When we have new volcanic rock dating at several dates by different methods, and ranging in dates from 270,000 years to 3.5 my or even to more than 3 by, evolutionists do not believe it. So they re-explain the assumptions about injected Argon in this new rock, but refuse to apply different assumptions to old rock. They refuse to reconsider potential for larger changes in C12-c14 ratios. They refuse to consider that the C14 found in coal and oil is not just background or contamination. They refuse to consider the numerous examples of dino dna, collagen, hemoglobin to be significant, or they take the unreasonable position that maybe it could be millions of years old. They do not accept any contrary evidence, unless they can twist the theory to adapt it. So it is impossible to convince them with scientific evidence.

For a flagella to evolve means that a complex system had to be complete at once, not in a step by step process where the parts serve no purpose. Although it is possible that various mutations could possibly have evolved useless parts slowly, it must be shown that these useless parts would not be harmful when in isolation from the other parts of the motor. (like a drive shaft is dangerous when not attached to a differential). Nor would there be any preferential selection to speed up the random process, so the expected timeline would be extended exponentially.

That is impressive, but there are dumb things going on also. A giraffeâs voice box is just inches from its brain, but the laryngeal nerve takes a 15-foot detour before connecting! This is easily explained when we understand its evolutionary history. Please see this video: Evolution is dumb
