Creation.com trashes BioLogos

I agree. I’ll just add that an archetype represents a universal pattern in human experience. Thus, “the man” and “the woman” don’t just represent all of humanity as a collective; they simultaneously represent the individual journey from childhood “innocence” to morally mature “guilt” that every person takes.

I’m an atheist (and an Alaskan) and I can tell you, I have never sinned.

Greeting! Your name sound so familiar. You are not from Michigan, too, are you? At any rate, what would a sin be in your understanding? Thanks.

Not from Michigan, but I like the state. I don’t believe in sin because I don’t believe in a god.

Hi, Evan. Thanks for introducing yourself. If you’ve got anything to contribute here about science or faith, we’ll be glad to discuss it. Many (but not all) of us around here hail from one sort of faith context or another, so those are the sorts of experiences and wisdoms that are typically brought to bear in this forum. And some of our best contributers around here have been atheists, and we welcome accuracy and truth wherever it comes from. Perhaps you can be such an illuminary as well.

Thanks for the welcome Merv. I too come from a background and have discussed theology and atheism many times over my life. I admire the intelligence and politeness of posters to BioLogos. Its unique in my experience.

I don’t have any new argument. I tend to just add comments when appropriate.

A note on the plate tectonics query: The split between Africa and Arabia, and Arabia’s colliding into Asia, starts around 20 million to 15 million, well after the initial breakup of Pangea (not to mention previous supercontinents).
Geographically, the best match for the rivers listed in Genesis 2 seems to be around the head of the Persian Gulf, possibly currently underwater. That would tend to fit better with Adam and Eve being representatives rather than exclusive ancestors to all humanity, although as Joshua Swamidass has particularly been pointing out, being an ancestor of all modern humans is not hard to achieve if you go back a few millennia.
