Can y’all pray for me. Honestly kind of scared and in lots of pain

Today a newer worker pushed the press buttons while I was adjusting a piece. I lost one finger completely. Lost 1/2-1/3 of another. Maybe lost 1/4-1/3 of my thumb. I’m in a lot of pain and just feel scared in general. I live alone and feel very alone. I can only type with one hand. I think I’m in shock. Was sent home. Tomorrow they will remove the one dead finger and they need to wait 24-48 hours before removing the pieces from f the other to see what the die back is.

So sorry. I’m sure they have a good hand doc seeing you, but rehab will take awhile. Hopefully Workmans comp will keep you covered adequately.
We will keep you in our prayers. If you have any needs, please share them with us. Only other advice is if they have you on strong pain meds, they are really constipating so keep on a regular dose of Miralax to avoid that pain and discomfort.

That’s terrible! Am praying for sure. I hope you let can let us know if there are other things you need or any way we can help! And we can start up a private thread here for you too if you wish, but nobody should be facing all that alone!

What the others have said. Praying of course, but do let us know if there’s anything practical we can do.

Just to add another voice of support, so sorry that this has befallen you, and I pray that you have the best outcomes possible given the situation.

Sorry, @SkovandOfMitaze , I am only seeing your post now. I am praying for you.
And, yes, let us know about practical needs as well. If you start a private thread, please include me.
And let us know when you can how you are doing.

I really hope someone as active and handy as you makes a full recovery that allows you to pursue your favorite projects and pastimes.

Hope your mom lives close enough to you to look in lots or better yet can take you in for a while.

HI SkovofMitaze (i wish i knew your first name as id like to be far more personal),

we may have differences in opinion on these forums, however, if i can say this because its honestly how i feel about pretty much everyone here, i feel a friendship connection with people on this forum. I really love that people are williing to discuss and share their worldview, feelings and daily lives with me on the forum.

In light of the above, i am so very sorry for your accident and i sincerely offer my prayers for you. I know that some believe my teenager “God stated our lawn mower” is a silly story however, if there is a God (and i believe that there is), the bible describes a being who genuinely cares intimately about His Creation. that means no matter what our faith, God cares about our joy and our pain.

I hope that you are able to find comfort in knowing that there is a person who also knows your pain and wants the best for you. So i am offering a prayer for you that you may find comfort in bearing the burden you do in healing there.

One thing i accept here along with i believe a number of others on these forums is that we are bound largely by cause and effect…and the idea that a miracle could see your finger/s suddenly appear whole when you wake up tomorrow is unlikely. However, God can turn terrible situations into a wonderful witness to his power and my hope there is that He is able to use you for that purpose in some way.

God Bless Skov

(ps. dont forget, God gave even atheist doctors talents to do wonderful work…so follow the best medical advice avialable on your journey of healing and adapting to a new way of trying to do even the simple things with a missing finger)

A little humour…my late grandfather lost a finger long before i was born. He used to tell me a story that for years after it was amputated, the most frustrating thing was getting an itch on a finger that wasnt there that he couldnt scratch

kindest regards
Adam

Am happy to see you’re still interacting around here. How is healing and recovery going?

Painful but manageable. Far better than the night I made the post. Went to the ER and was given pain meds and a wet wrap and sent home for an appointment 12 hours later. Was in ridiculous pain. Few hours later returned and new ER doctor said I should have never been sent home and gave me IV drugs, sent me to another hospital and they kept me mostly pain free and a surgeon came in and operated on me. I made the post between the two visits when was still in shock. Much better now compared to then psychologically and physically.

so very glad to hear this Skov. Moving away from Christian faith into human logic now…

in my life i have made a habit of always trying to see the end game when in moments of anguish. I know it seems a bit cliche, but i have this habit of saying to myself…it wont feel so bad in a few days/weeks/ or months time (depending on how bad it is). I know thats kinda stupid, but it has allowed me to remain largely level headed during low times in life.

Looking back from a Christian perspectiver over those low times in my life, i can make the claim that i believe that whilst God didnt put me in those situations necessarily, Im sure He has made good (even great things) come out of them. I wouldnt have the wonderful wife and family i have today if i hadnt been “sacked” from my very first teaching job after just 1 year. (they called it a transfer but it didnt feel like that to me so i left the job…with a lot of hate to be honest!)and i wouuldnt have even become a teacher if i hadnt had a bad run in a job just before i went to college to study education, if my dad didnt end up being employed by a christian transport company where one of the brothers essentially took the other for a ride, if i hadnt almost drowned when i was a toddler…if that lawnmower hadnt started…there are so many pointers from the past on this journey of life we are travelling.

I am glad to hear you are better. Terrible that you did not get the appropriate care from the very start. That seems to be a problem everywhere no matter how the healthcare system is set up (UK here). Living on your own is not easy, I know. Especially when your health is suffering. I pray the Lord gives you some peace.

So sorry for your accident. Praying for your pain to subside and for your healing.
