And there was evening and there was morning?

Hey Adam, when you quoted Scripture on this very thread I note that you didn’t using a translation done centuries ago!!! What’s with that?

I hope you aren’t messing with us, @adamjedgar

Here is a list of some the published scriptures that i use:

Vulgate (translated into English because i cannot read latin)
Codex Sinaiticus (found here Codex Sinaiticus - See The Manuscript | Genesis |)
King James
New King James
NIV
ESV
NASB
NLT (although i dont see this as authoritative so where it disagrees with above texts i use them)
Greek interlinear ( Nestle 1904 〈NE **〉**Eberhard Nestle, Η ΚΑΙΝΗ ΔΙΑΘΗΚΗ. Text with Critical Apparatus . (British and Foreign Bible Society, 1904))
Strongs concordance

I will even use NWT published by JW’s at times, although not authoritatively as this production has a lot of conflicts with practically every other translation that i regularly use…it is very clear that is writers have changed the original text to suit doctrines as it disagrees in many many places with their own published interlinear…and they just so happen to always be in the very places where there are very significant doctrinal issues.

I have not yet taken much to the Masoretic text or the Tanach or Septuagint writings directly…I guess one day I might, but this would be trying to reinvent the wheel I think as others have gone before me in that endeavor when producing the mainstream texts I have at the top of my list!

I will make one promise, i will absolutely read any version of the bible…God can use all of them…even the new biologos version coming (i dont know what it will be called but that seems like an appropriate name given the nature of this discussion). The caveat here is, God uses those scriptures to bring people. out of apostacy back to himself…so where those denominations are in error, it will be the expectation of our creator that we leave the heresy (bablyon) and “come out of her my people”. I do not believe this means that everyone will join the JW or SDA or Mormon or Biologos denominations…what we will do is unite under the banner of Jesus. The essence of this is found in Revelation 14:12

12 Here is the patience of The Holy Ones, those who keep the commands of God and the faith of Yeshua.”

btw, that reference was from a text i have never used before…

Biologos is publishing a “new version of the Bible”?!!! That would be news to me. Should I be getting excited about anything, @HRankin? I must not be paying enough attention around here!

Denis Lamoureux said that he is translating the OT. He’s no longer with this organization so that hardly makes it a Biologos Bible.

It means that Gid created the universe in real time, not outside of time so there was no Beginning. This is in opposition to the philosophers who did not think that the universe was created in time and had no Beginning.

The word yom or day does not really make sense as a specific measure of time in this context, but it does as an expression of the existence of Time.
