So basically you say that the atheists I knew who didn’t want to be atheists were liars.
Just who do you have as a mentor in your spiritual formation???

At the moment I am studying the Orthodox catechismal material presented online after having the church I attended go heterodox on me and after examining the others in my community and discovering that none conform to the church of the seven great ecumenical Councils.
If there was an Orthodox congregation using the Divine Liturgy of St.Tikhon within an hour’s drive I would be attending instruction courses in person – or more to the point, if there was one less than $50 round trip away; the time is not so much an issue as being able to afford gas.
One term our informal intelligent design club humorously decreed that on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we would argue in favor of the proposition that the necessary components for inside a cell were incompatible with the formation of cell walls and thus no mechanism could form a living cell, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays we would argue the opposite – of course Fridays hardly any of us had afternoon classes and Saturdays we tended to be off doing our own thing, so this amounted to a Monday through Thursday arrangement. It proved to be an excellent decision because people came prepared to support the “position of the day” against all comers, and the biologists among us were so thorough in their preparation that other biology students would come to listen. Then one day one of the associate professors in the biology department showed up to argue the opposite of the “position of the day” and things got really interesting!
You must be a Catholic from “Down Under”
I am indeed a Catholic from Down Under.
Just a ‘common buzzard’ though (I looked up the image).
Just a ‘common buzzard’ though (I looked up the image).
I didn’t know that. Thanx for the information.
I may be just a common buzzard, but what a handsome specimen …
Ha! Is it okay if I don’t take you word for it? (I haven’t found you trustworthy on some other things. ; - )
You’re still stuck in La La Land. Until scientists produce life from inanimate matter, they can’t claim to know how it happened.
Ditto for evolution - until someone evolves a mammal from a fish, they can’t claim to know how it happened (if indeed it did happen).
Ha!
Is it okay if I don’t take you word for it?
You can take my word for it … just ask the lady buzzards around here.
I’m a gorgeous duck.
This is incoherent
Thank you. Incoherence is my speciality.
Until scientists produce life from inanimate matter, they can’t claim to know how it happened.
It may happen, your incredulity not withstanding.
…evolution - until someone evolves a mammal from a fish, they can’t claim to know how it happened (if indeed it did happen).
You are clueless regarding the eons of time and the billions of mutations involved. God had time to spare, so to speak – he wasn’t in a hurry. I don’t think it’s going to happen in a lab any time soon. (My senior memory forgets – are you a YEC?)
I’m a gorgeous duck
That’s for sure and one thing we can agree on. I imagine you’d be very popular with the lady ducks in your pond.
No, I’m not YEC. I accept the scientific evidence that suggests life on earth has existed for a very long time and that life has evolved - ie, life started as simple organisms and become more diverse and complex over time.
However, I don’t accept that anyone can ever know what process was responsible for that evolutionary process … or even know that the process was entirely natural.
I’m a gorgeous duck.
Ducks are actually one of my favourite creatures. I see a lot of them at my local golf course … of course, none of them are as handsome as thee.
You are the first duck I’ve encountered that can use the Internet, so you could well be the smartest duck in the world. Beauty and brains - God has certainly blessed you abundantly.
He has. And eternally. You have some issues though.
It may happen, your incredulity not withstanding.
I will bet you $2.50 (usd) that scientists will never ever produce life from inanimate matter.
Nah, not in my remaining years.
You are clueless regarding the eons of time and the billions of mutations involved. God had time to spare, so to speak – he wasn’t in a hurry. I
I accept that neo-Darwinian evolution (aka the Modern Synthesis) is the best scientific explanation for the history of life on earth, but I don’t accept it as the truth. The truth cannot ever be known.
Meh.
The truth about the theory of gravitation and the truth about the neutral theory of evolution is just filling in the details.
