When do you think we had the necessary capacities for a relationship with God?

Why not accept, as “deeper meaning”, the evidence provided by evolution that Adam, the first human, was NOT preprogrammed as an adult fully capable of making a covenant with his Creator? Perhaps it took humankind thousands of years before their brains attained the proper circuitry to operate as Minds, to build upon the symbiosis (already evidenced in animals) that would produce true empathy and love. At this point God might have considered Adam to be a companion worthy of having a conversation with “in the cool of the evening”.

Sin, then, is our refusal to listen to Him when He tells us how to live our lives as Images of Himself.

Yes, with or without evolution, at that point God demonstrated his lack of intimately affectionate parenting skills. Unable to empathise, bond with deep soul affection and educate for managing deceivers, planet shaking punishments for His disconnected, rebelling kids was His only option ? The creator of Genesis just seems SO fallibly human, a first time parent, not at all gloriously wise and loving.

And we like to wander too!
