The Samaritans . .

Yes you did. You were very critical. What is wrong with putting the tabernacle in Shiloh, or the temple in Jerusalem? Where else are you supposed to put a building if not in your own country?

When that verse about inspiration was written there was no canon, and God never asked for one to be drawn up.

God never asked for church buildings to be built. God is putting up with yours, even though it clearly wasn’t His idea

I haven’t said anything was wrong – you’re the only one using that word, so you should answer the question.
I pointed out a pattern that illustrates God’s grace.

Of course there was a canon – the books God inspired or would inspire. The church just hadn’t recognized the need to make it official, but when Peter wrote the canon was already being assembled as the church recognized the hand of the Spirit. Indeed drawing one up is implicit in the promise that the Holy Spirit would lead the church into all truth: if there’s no canon, then every generation has to figure out all over again which books should be trusted, something pointed out to the church by allowing a heretic to publish his version first (though the canon was essentially complete by that point; most churches already had copies of every book we know and the only disputes were around the edges of the list).).

You implied that God was merely going along with it

A canon is drawn up by people and only involves extant books, not future ones.

Would you be interested in an online course on the OT and NT canons, taught by an excellent scholar? The cost is very nominal (Pay what you wish).
