I have considerable contempt for any attempt to romanticize previous eras – because none of them are better. Nevertheless there are setbacks and people promote all kinds of inhumanity and ignorance trying to turn back time to regain lost wealth and power.
No. But neither should you be able to block the use of knowledge or technology by other people according to your own personal choices. To be sure, consideration of ethics and harm to people and the earth is important.
