I think everyone can acknowledge that various denominations have proposed
their own solutions to particular issues.
I strongly suggest nurturing an inclination of tolerance to the various camps of
Christianity and to Theism at large on these issues.
The highest importance goes to embracing the Creationist groups, who - - according
to surveys - - are split almost equally on the issue of Original Sin (pro VERSUS con). We
aren’t recruting denominationally here, right?
Yes. That does not mean that we should hide that we have also interpretations where we disagree. An observation made within ecumenical work is that cooperation works best when all participants know what and why they believe but can accept that all do not have to interpret the scriptures and tradition exactly as I do.
Another question is what is the correct forum for these debates? I admit that I have also lifted up questions that are not within the primary interests of Biologos Forum. Maybe I (we) should reconsider what is relevant for the discussions within this Forum.
The question of creationism is within the key topics on this Forum. It is good to remember that in that topic we deal with comparable agreements and disagreements about interpretations as in the other matters of faith. It is a matter of what is the authoritative or trusted source of information and what is the correct or acceptable way to interpret that information. Seeing where we can agree and where we disagree gives a better understanding of the possibilities to cooperate, despite the disagreements in the interpretations.
