Exo 13:17

“And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:”

Are these words to be taken seriously or not? If words of the Old Testament are so empty and incapable of meaning as to be relied upon to explain why the Hebrew turned towards the Sinai … then is there really ANYTHING we can find in the Old Testament that we can rely upon because the Bible says so?

What are you getting from my post, that you think I do not accept one verse but insist upon accepting others? Where does THAT come from?

One verse tells of Abraham journeying, the other tells of Abraham’s descendants journeying hundreds of years later. They are NOT the same journey, nor the same people, nor the same time frame. I see no conflict.

I don’t understand your position … you either ACCEPT this verse or you don’t. If you ACCEPT IT, it tells us PRECISELY the earliest date possible for the Hebrew Exodus.
