If you claim morality is subjective and valid as long as it reflects what a society collectively agrees on, why would you criticize them at all?

I would criticize them because their actions violate my subjective sense of morality.

You can’t argue against it, however. There is only one objective standard of morality, so how can you argue against what the Aztec’s did?

Or are you saying morality is arbitrary? It just depends on what religion you happen to belong to?

But if I came to believe again (as i did in the past, before my conversion) that we live in a meaningless universe where, whether I live like Himmler or like Oscar Schindler, I end up the same way (that is, devoured by worms or burned by fire, and that’s it), I would absolutely prioritize my own well-being and my family’s well-being at the expense of others—especially if, as in the example I mentioned in the post you quoted, I could do so without legal repercussions.

It scares me that there are people in the world whose only reason for not harming others is because they are commanded not to do so by their religious leaders.
