@moderators - This thread has diverged widely into 2 different conversations with very little overlap. I’m finding it difficult to follow. I know it’s a lot of work, but if you could separate the discussion of ancient Near East culture from the discussions of the Trinity and the dual nature of Christ, I would be grateful.

Okay, @Chris_Falter - I attempted it and hopefully did not make too much hash of things. I basically took most of the posts that had ‘trinity’ in them somewhere (and a few more responses to those besides) and put them in a new ‘Jesus identity’ thread. Hopefully most of what’s left here is slightly closer to the OP topic.
