Right. He rejected political power in the temptation in the desert. The passersby and Jewish power brokers taunted him with the same temptations while he hung on the cross:
“You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God! In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. "He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
Recall that the temptation in the wilderness ended with Satan departing until “a better opportunity presented itself.”
During the Book of Acts They tried to Create a Christian Management and it ceased to exist. Now the Vatican is sort of a Government with it’s Flag but it’s not like any Big Governments of Today. Christ will come again to all of Us Christians went We meet Him. The group Seals & Crofts has a Song “When I Meet Them” is the feeling of being with all of Us Christians being with Each Other and Christ. Paul Simon sings “Mother and Child Reunion” is like Christ being with “Our Father” and not Giving Us a “False Hope”.
The theoretical calculation might be correct if it is calculated for an ideal human with an ideal low-calory diet and ideal life style.
The ‘blue areas’ demonstrate that an ideal diet and otherwise healthy life style may lengthen the life. Even in these areas, the oldest people normally die between the ages of 100-115 years.
In practice, various problems accumulate with age and may cause death. Genetic mutations are not the only reason that cause health problems with increasing age. Other causes include telomere degradation, loss of proteostasis, mitochondrial dysfunction, stem cell exhaustion, etc. Heart and blood vessels thicken and stiffen, with accumulating stuff, which is likely to lead to health problems like heart failure or stroke. Immune system may degrade, which may make old people vulnerable to diseases. Without modern medication and surgery, few would live to the age of 100 years.
Yes there is no Perpetual Motion Machine, but Our Spirit is Energy. The Spirit Energy can be transferred by the Conduit of “Our Father” when this Biological Machine ceases to function. Lot’s Wife’s Spirit became Matter by 'Our Father" for Energy and Matter are interchangeable and She went No-Where and Perished.
I had gotten this information from a small scientific news article from Apple News. Judging by how many articles I get referred to from Apple News regarding astronomy that lack some necessary context, I probably should have expected there to be more to the story. Thanks for the info, though!
Humans could potentially extend the ‘base’ lifespan by conceiving babies later in life. The ability to maintain fertility longer does seem to correlate with longer overall lifespan. Essentially, the selection for longer period of fertility brings along traits that also contribute to slower senescence. But, of course, we can’t manage human reproduction like we can in lab animals so that method of life extension isn’t likely to happen.
(Although skyrocketing house prices might help impose the necessary environmental conditions…)
I am declaring what the Greek says; it is literally “out of”, in the sense of “from”, not “outside”. It is a construction of Greek that means “from”.
Modern translations have stuck with a traditional wording that no longer means what it did in the KJV. Back then “of” was a term indicating derivation or source, e.g. “Joseph of Arimathea”, meaning “Joseph from Arimathea”.
“Of” in modern usage suggests “belonging to”, which is not wrong but is incomplete. The Greek more indicates source, thus the Kingdom of God is not one that arises from this world. The connotation is that His Kingdom is in essence an invader, arising from outside and differing in nature.
Only in a broad (metaphorical?) sense, not in any scientific sense. The Spirit certainly isn’t material, but give e=mc^2 energy in scientific terms is just a sort of flip side of matter.
The chair of one of the science departments when I was at university was a Christian and he did in fact say that insofar as he was a good scientist it was because of God, and he said so to the rest of the school of science. Indeed he told the rest of the department that insofar as any of them was a good scientist it was because of God – agnostics, atheists, whomever.
We have no Sensor/Detector of this Energy/Spirit. The Spirit being Energy is the only thing I can conclude, as Jesus said " Father I commend my Spirit to You".
I read that same piece. It’s based on a scientific study, but the framing is a little deceiving. The question was basically, How long could each organ theoretically survive in perfect conditions? Out of brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver, the heart was on the low end at 140; the liver on the high end around 200. As far as a person living even to 140, it’s like being dealt a royal flush on the first deal, which is about 650,000-1. And that’s for a person with a perfect diet and perfect environment, which is a condition that doesn’t exist in nature. Beyond the “big 5” organs, there are many others that can fail and cause death.
Yes. But children born from parents that have a lower incidence of birth defects will tend to have fewer kids with birth defects when they are older and can have a higher percentage of successful progeny.
Parents could also have kids when they are 18 and 45. The factor is selecting for individuals that can maintain fertility later in life. If your oldest sibling was born when your parents were in their 40s, you are more likely to also be able to have kids when you are that age (sharing the same genes).
I would never suggest the selection process would be pretty or without other issues. What we can do with rat breeding or with other animals is not something we might ethically do with humans. But work in other animals suggests this is a way of increasing intrinsic human longevity too.
So you live longer, but spend it all hungry. Reminds me of the study that found you live an average of 2 years longer if you run 30 minutes 3 times a week. Only bad thing is that if you add it up, while you live 2 years longer, you spend it all running.
As is often the case, the best chance you have of living longer is by ensuring your ancestors lived a long time. Too bad reto-causation doesn’t seem an option. Similarly, if your parents didn’t have kids, neither will you.
Maybe GLP-1 receptor agonists can help with the ‘feeling hungry all the time’ issue you get with nutrient limitation…
I once read a study about the fertility of males in principally monogamous vs. polygamous societies. In that study, the males of polygamous societies tended to continue getting children at older ages than the males of ‘less polygamous’ societies. The availability of younger wifes was probably one reason for this but the study claimed that the observed ability to get children at older ages was heritable, at least to some extent.
Getting children is associated with costs that may shorten life but as you claimed, it seems that getting children at an advanced age is associated with some heritable genetical benefits of staying healthy until an old age.
From the viewpoint of population growth, getting the children at a young age is the winning strategy, even if it would lead to earlier death.
