That is hilarious. I would share it on my Facebook feed, but we have a few former youth pastors in our church, and they might take offense, one of which is my good friend Todd, aka The Toddster, now a pastor of administration, but was my kids youth pastor in the 1990’s. Spot on.
I hear you… A little close to home for a whole lot of us probably! It was one of the links dredged up by Drew Dyck in his free “Drews News” newsletter, which is full of other great humor too.
This one goes back a ways. I’m used to it in the “go and get your own dirt” version.
A group of brilliant scientists got together and decided that mankind had come a long way and no longer needed God. They had mastered cloning, gene editing, and could create life from the earth. So, they picked one scientist to go up and break the news to God.
The scientist walked up to God and said, “God, we’ve decided we don’t need you anymore. We’ve advanced so much that we can clone people, cure diseases, and do everything you used to do. We can even take dirt and turn it into a living human being.”
God listened patiently, nodded, and said, “I see. Well, let’s have a human-making contest to see if that’s true. We will do it just like I did back in the old days with Adam.”
The scientist smiled confidently and replied, “You’re on!”
The scientist bent down, reached for the ground, and scooped up a handful of dirt to begin.
God looked at him, shook His head, and said, “Oh, no you don’t. Go get your own dirt.”
