I laughed so hard it hurts. I keep laughing when I think of it.

Just for fun, I took the following cartoon with me to the extended care facility on my monthly rounds. I told them, jokingly, that this was a test whether laughter is the best medicine or not! Most enjoyed it.

Uranium being ‘safer’ to lick than iodine flakes?! I didn’t see that coming! Sodium… Okay burning one’s tongue badly can’t be fun, but maybe survivable at least? Still, uranium being ‘maybe not the best idea’ catches me by surprise. I guess you would need to specify which isotope and what the purity levels are too.

As fun as this would be for students to see, I don’t think I’ll be posting it in my classroom. They would probably take it as implied permission.

Thallium might be best moved to the last category. Phosphorus depends on the allotrope. Some of the other radioactive ones should probably move down to the orange category. Unless you had enough of them that they exploded before getting licked.

If you take them together.

Maybe fluorine and chlorine ought to be in the last category too … If we take a deep inhalation in place of a “lick”. And for that matter, you could only lick oxygen if it was in its solid or maybe liquid (cryogenic) form and that would come with some lasting discomfort I should think!
