That’s the ventilation system used in the boat I was on, half a century ago. 
The uplifting was typically done utilizing the stern and sail planes, but occasionally we did an emergency blow.

It looks like they might do okay with witches huts’ chimneys.

If it doesn’t die first it may weakly come back whimpering to be allowed to go back to its dock to be fed.
