Yeah, I think you might be right. I forgot that modern evolutionary theory has changed drastically to the point where it is almost the same as Owen’s common archetype theory. So I would probably drop this side point and go back to my broader point that ERVs do not uniquely undercut common design/archetype interpretations simply because they are often interpreted through a common ancestry framework.
