How do I interpret Exodus 12:14?

I am pretty sure the lack of a definite article doesn’t change much. See my response to this thread.

I understand what you’re saying, but allegorical days are not 24-hour solar days.

And how do you interpret

1“Come, let us return to the LORD;
for he has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him. (Hosea 6:1-2)

Because it has always been interpreted is as a prophesy leading to the expectation of a long, indeterminate period of affliction and suffering and bondage (e.g., see the commentaries by John Calvin and/or Matthew Henry). Or do you think Judah would have interpreted this to mean that their future captivity would only last only 48 hours and on the third literal day they would be rescued?

I’m saying that the Genesis account presents a creation of God’s world in about a week, but the account is allegorical to begin with. The allegorical account does situate the events in 24-hour time periods. The Genesis account must be understood in its ancient near eastern context. Are you aware that there are other accounts in the ancient near east, predating Genesis, that provide 7-day formulas?
