God and prayers for others

Dont know how to ask it but does it really help if we pray for others?

Like does it help for example to pray that my friend will change his mind and do the right thing ?

Does really God answers these prayers and change their minds?Like lets say someone has wronged me and i pray for him to realize his mistake and come to terms with me,since im willing to forgive him.Will God really interfere some way?Or am i waisting time ?
