Explaining one third of our sun going dark suddenly

The stars sing, they fight against people, they’re given names by God. That sure sounds like people, human or otherwise. Unless you don’t believe the Bible.

The purpose is for you to offer possible scientific explanations for events soon to come

Careful now, you are stepping away from vooden literalism.

False. They depend on a slice of space and time here in the solar system to represent one line in a triangle. The other lines are expected to be equal in space and time. No one knows that time even exists out there. Or that space and time together exists the same. You do not get to simply draw lines on a paper as if our time and space is the same as all time and space in the universe. Total belief based nonsense

Who cares?
How does you introducing these useless speculations further the Great Commission?

Taking God at His word is precisely how prophesy works. When prophesy said Jesus would be born in Bethlehem of a virgin that is what it meant. When it says 7000 (or whatever) will die in an earthquake in the Jerusalem area in the very end, that is not talking about rice pudding. It is what it is.

There is no point in you pretending you have a grip on what is rational. Scripture is rational. Whether some agree or not

Science does have some supposed clues as to what causes earthquakes. So when a prophesy says a big quake will hit earth, we could offer some educated scientific guesses. The trick here is to see if anyone can do so with the monumental events in the OP.

Context. The prophesy is not talking about people or even spiritual beings in the heavens. By this time all the fallen angels have been cast down to earth already! It is talking about the moon and sun etc. Shining in a certain way. This thread is not for doubters to try and get people not to talk about or think about God or Scripture. It is for natural minded folks to try and think about possible scientific explanations.

Do we need a padded forum for such threads?

Science may not be able to explain it but science fiction already has in the film Project Hail Mary. It turns out astrophage was the culprit.

Thinking about what is coming soon is not useless. It is God’s word. I was also not aware that the ‘great commission’ is what all threads here were about? Some of those espousing a reverence for that ‘commission’ seem to be the biggest naysayers and doubters on the forum.

Which is what one ought to expect, from scripture, given that it tells us that God doesn’t go about changing the rules.

No, it isn’t – it’s a type of expression that shares aspects with symbolism and poetry.

There’s an understatement!

Good starting point.

Oh, that part is easy – hit the moon with a carbonaceous chondritic asteroid just right and it would darken a third of the moon by covering it with material that is relatively non-reflective.

So you opine that science cannot explain it. OK I did not watch the movie you recommend, it was a bit too out there for my taste, tks

No, this thread, as with most of the ones you start, is about you strutting your superiority complex to stoke your own ego.
Hopefully one day soon you’ll stop ignoring the admonitions of the Apostles and stop working to drive people away from Christ, which is what you are doing whether you admit it or not.

OK, that is one attempted explanation for one aspect of the prophesy. Now you still have the stars and sun to contend with!

Scripture. Real prophesy. Play nice

So you don’t believe the Bible when it talks about stars singing and fighting and being named? Is it contradicting? Lying?

It was coming soon in 120 A.D. – in fact the book got into the canon because people back then read it and saw it telling about what was going on around them, and because they recognized that the end times were not a future period but began with the Ascension.

Many are far more about that than anything you have started, all of which could hardly be better designed if the goal was to drive people from Christ.

Nor does God say time is a rule that is identical in the far reaches of the universe. The event prophesied is specific and detailed and in several places in His word. No waving away possible here.

OK enjoy them. Also pop back here if you get some ideas as to what possible scientific explanations might work.
