Creation Photos Around the World

Right. I forgot about that. I know it’s been a hard adjustment here for friends from warmer, sunnier climates. One of my girlfriends suffers pretty sorely with SAD. The lack of sun really gets to her. I hope that’s not the case for you.
Yes, appropriate footware is important.
If you haven’t yet tried cross-country skiing, you might enjoy that, too. there’s a style that’s more like jogging or loping. Too aerobic for me, when I was skiing. Even low key skiing like I ever did was a really beautiful way to be outside and enjoy the beautiful winter.

No, no SAD–just cold! Whenever it’s really cold, though, I look up the temperature in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; or Barrow, AK. I feel I’m in a warm spot then! And it is beautiful–I appreciate the photos everyone posts here!
I’ll have to try the skiiing, too.

It’s a great place. In a few more weeks there will be thousands and thousands of them between 8-12 species blooming. The short stalked pitcher plants that hold water year around pretty well already has their pitchers. The taller ones like white top ( crimson ) pitcherplant won’t have their pitchers developed until near summer. But they basically all seem to bloom in spring where I live.

I wanted to go kayaking today. But the kayak was a bit filthy and I started cleaning it off which lead to me realizing the hose was leaking really bad so I looked for hose washers which lead me to realizing I need to drain a bunch of my hoses and I hook them and clean the spigots which lead to me organizing the chemical shed which resulted in me cutting the grass around the shed and doing laundry to clean all the rags. Then I sprayed off and wiped down the kayak and put it back away for later this week lol. I have to keep fighting the edge to still go. It gets dark in a hour and takes 20 minutes to get to then place and so I won’t be able to do much before it’s dark. Need to order some new parts for my kayak. It’s a Freedom 12 stand on split tail kayak. Looking forward to my aquatic plant hunting this year.

We have a little orange tree, and I realized today that I can make my own orange blossom water! Our neighbor has mature fruit trees and gifted us with a bag of oranges and lemons. I need to make them something pretty tasty

I’ll bet the smell is wonderful too, though I guess that varies.

I hesitate to post without any meerkat pics but here is a nice little flower which I believe is the national flower of both Bolivia and Peru, Cantua buxifolia. It and another vining shrub had been sprawling all over a small flowering crab apple for a long while. But when I finally got around to replacing the stairs up to a small deck I went ahead and added a simple archway to give the Cantua something else to sprawl on. Got to say that worked out pretty well.

The have to watch out for too much UV, though – it degrades the plastic.

A few of them rode Hurricane Hazel to Staunton, VA; and two showed up in Labrador, also with a hurricane.

We just took a quick trip down to Indy. These are not good photos, but the Indiana State Museum has a really nice natural history section that includes a beautiful overview of historic geology and paleantology. I can’t imagine what the collection alone is worth. The fossils are amazing and the interpretive infor.ation is outstanding for this lay-person.

that looks good! I don’t want to sound jaded, but I thought that Mike Pence, as the previous governor was somewhat against evolution. I’m glad that has developed so well! Thanks for the photos.

There is not the slightest hint of anything but a solid understanding of evolution.
The fossil collection is stunning. Just the one large trilobite almost made me burst into tears. It’s been so long since we covered this in school in the late '70s, it was really besutiful to spend some time with it. Want more.
Fortunately the whims of governors often don’t get a chance to filter down so far.
