I just learned about Grok last week; haven’t tried it yet. Though given that I got an answer from ChatGPT about the mechanics of a strategy game that I couldn’t find at any of the official or semi-official game help sites, I may give it a shot next time I have such a question.
Nice hiking today after work. It’s 72°f out. Sunny. Almost no clouds. A decent cool breeze though blowing through the grass.
A small gulf swamp snake which is a subspecies of the glossy crayfish snake which mostly eats crawdads.
The carnivorous yellow butterwort.
Was curious what the botanical term for the fused leaves below the bloom were called and so I looked in my illustrated plant identification terminology book and found it. I knew I saw the term in the book before. It’s “connate-perfoliate” and is when the base of two opposite leaves fuse together with the appearance that the stem pierces the leaves.
Found a nice blog on it.
Anyways this is one of my favorite native vines the coral honeysuckle.
The first one is American Dogwood.
The second is Florida Anise.
The third is Ohio Buckeye.
The last is the snack I really have been enjoying and taking with me on hikes and to work. It’s California figs, dates, roasted peanuts and some dark chocolate chips used for baking.
It’s just gorgeous!
This looks like a stinging chicken bone ready for take off!!!
Eeee.
Several of the early spring flowers are blooming nicely. Weather is finally back to low 60s at night and mid 80s in the day. Perfect weather to me. Basically just turn my ac on to 72f around 5pm and turn it off around 730pm and zzzz. Going to sleep really soon. Just finishing making my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow.
It’s Honeysuckle Azalea, some sort of blueberry or fetterbush and rose pitcher plants.
Wow. It’s in the 20s to 40s here, and we plan on snow next Monday again! We are starting some plants indoors, though. Beautiful; thank you.
That’s probably why we have so many college students that flock here in spring. At the beach right now literally there will be thousands of women in bikinis getting sunburned and dudes without shirts floating in water or throwing footballs. I like the warmer weather for sure. In winter it’s like shock going from inside the mill lifting 150lb-200lb crates in 138°f temps for half an hour and then heading out into 40s. It’s like a 100°f temp change in 30 seconds.
Today was pretty good. Went on a short 6 mile hike. Met up with my cousin and her friend who’s a vegan, and we all went to a vegan festival and had good food and hung out with some others. Saw six men and women from the Cherokee nation and they were all wearing horror tshirts. They are from 11 hours away but have a vacation home they all come too that’s two hours away. Tomorrow we are all meeting up at a place about midway between us to watch the horror film “ death of a unicorn”.
Collected some mushrooms while hiking and bought some while at the event too.
Pink oyster mushrooms.
Black pearl mushrooms. Never had either since they are from Japan. So they are bought from growers.
Also chestnut mushrooms which I’ve found and have eaten and of course lionsmane. So tons of mushrooms to eat for a snack tonight and for tomorrow. I’ll probably just eat mushrooms and some fruit tomorrow.
Neat episode on NOVA on PBS airing this week, When Whales Could Walk. I think it is a repeat, and may vary depending on your local stations, but worth watching if you can run down.
Just some snippets of my day. Hiked a few miles. Nice and warm in the low 80s. Really enjoy Sandy soil.
