Can the Book of Genesis Be Reconciled with the Evolutionary History of the World Without a “God of the Gaps”?

The fact He created it all and did it like He says is the crux of what Genesis has to say. As well as what came after this

If that is the case, why are you so concerned with “How” he did it?

(Why should primal man know such a thing when we ae struggling even now with it)

To me this says that a text has to have a certain type of content in order to be “divine revelation”. But why can’t Genesis be (for example) a divinely revealed “theological reflection on God, humanity and the world”?

My view is that the scriptures are revelation from God, but that God has chosen to express that revelation in a container of ordinary human literature. Therefore our starting point must be to engage with the scriptures as literature. In the case of Genesis, there may well be connections with science. But we don’t start with that assumption; we allow the text to speak on its own terms.

Not really – the how, what, and who are right up there.

Oh – and if you mean literal details, the opening Creation account does not mean for them to be taken literally. The important “how” is that YHWH-Elohim did it by divine command that things like the land and sea obeyed.

Yes – especially since “primal man” didn’t regard scientific accuracy as a criterion for truth!

He told us how. No struggle needed

He told us how. Inn 6 days, He created the earth first etc
Believing the record Jesus confirmed is precisely what we need to do.

Those two statements conflict. ANE cosmology is far from modern.

Nah It is cool to believe and realize so called science fables are yesterday’s news. Futuristic.
