Well you got part of it. I have a Post Versalog straight slide rule that most many would recognize and a circular (bought just for the wow factor) used by pilots.

I think that is probably the best thing to do in this situation. A lot of people seem so dead set on whatever it is they believe nowadays and it is so sad to see these giant arguments occurring online and in person over the simplest things.
Which makes me all the more confused! Usually, these arguments stem out of these weird sudo-science groups that posit that some ancient civilization lived before us and did all this weird stuff (and that the world is flat and evolution a lie and whatever). Why these groups seem to sometimes align with some fringe Christian groups online is a mystery to me because it seems like the later groups would oppose the former group for having ideas not in the Bible?

Thought you were going to say sudoku groups there. 
You can use the Bible to “prove” flat earth and no evolution so alignment with some Christian group isn’t that unusual.

I’m working on getting a small library millage passed. You have no idea how many government conspiracies are being uncovered by the populace in regard to an operation that takes place out in Open Meetings and under the rules of FOIA.
Imagine if we had a “back room” where we could actually hide things.

Our former youth pastor had his copy prominently displayed in their living room. Our old church had bought the AIG Sunday school curriculum as well. So little kids could learn that they really need to believe in YEC and its pseudoscience to be real Christians. Although Ham claims that it’s not essential but that it isn’t not.

I will never not feel sad that this is just an aspect of the internet that we apparently have to live with. It truly is easier to put a camel through an eye of a needle than for society to get better at this rate

That makes sense but will always feel weird to me, the fact that you can grab a single info chunk from a single group and run without any regards to the very conflicting information that said group has to your ideas.

Well, I never said that corruption or even malice could occur. However, the way they say it brings it from the level of “everyday horrible occurrence” to “this is the sort of stuff you see in Mission Impossible movie plots.” You would need to coordinate museums and paleontologists from across the globe to all be on the same page in regards to this. This isn’t even including the amateur fossil hunters or other third parties to confirm their findings! It requires a level of cooperation and coordination that apparently is very easy for the governments of the world to do (like with the moon landing 
)

Oh the many flavors of Christianity! I used to be in an in between zone of where I am now and what you describe above. I guess I acknowledged planets as being round and stuff (and I guess I just assumed that the Big Bang and Genesis had to work out somehow?) but just hand-waved evolution like I was some groundbreaking expert digging through the deep web of the internet for counterproofs. I never actually thought that such shenanigans would go as deep as this, though!

PS, In my former life we always had root privilege and never had to mess with sudo. Which sometimes lead to interesting problems. Such as the time my manager ran a “rm -r *” command in /. Guess who got to come in on the weekend and rebuild (no backups) the system.

Oh, was that the correct saying?
I have trouble accepting that the sabre-tooth tiger was a real creature. Those huge fangs would prevent it from eating anything at all, and in order to use said fangs to overcome prey, its jaws would have had to open about 180 degrees. It doesn’t add up.
