For Dr. Terri Laws the Gospel cannot be decontextualized from our society and the lives that we live. It has very practical implications that compel us to care for others and love our neighbors well, especially the marginalized.

She became very interested in theological questions related to the body as well, and how the bodies that God has given us affect our different experiences on this earth. “What does it mean when poverty is experienced in a white body or a black body? Are there any differences? Let’s not shy away from these kinds of questions.

Thanks for this article.
It does a good job introducing white readers to the very idea of and need for theology specifically related to the body. We whites don’t normally need to think about our bodies in this way, so the concept is foreign to us.
