Oh, looks interesting! I really need to dig into this Integrate sample I have. Trying to figure out how to add it in with my kiddo, who will be a 7th grader this upcoming year.

Thanks for the insightful conversation. For several years I have been interested in the mystery of self - aware consciousness. It is referred to as the “hard problem of consciousness.” I began to focus on the Gospel of John Chap. 1 vs. 1. “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God.” The Greek word for “word” is logos, and by extension, refers to language. Since language is the outer manifestation of inner consciousness, this opening sentence could be interpreted as a declaration that Jesus is the embodiment of God’s consciousness. This consciousness was, and is, God.

Those who insist on the wholly materialistic nature of the universe ignore the profound improbability of the existence of consciousness in a world made up solely of the elements in the periodic table. Carbon is still Carbon no matter how it is organized. Yet Carbon speaks. What draws words out of Carbon is the gift of consciousness that originates with God. Perhaps that is what is meant by the declaration in Genesis that we are made in the image of God. Our consciousness is a construct of God’s pure consciousness limited by our physical restraints and imperfections. Jesus, as the embodiment of God’s consciousness, taught us who God is and what is expected of us. Our goal as Christians should be to live out those expectations.
