Dispersion factor (k) is most important to coronavirus spread?

Zeynep Tufekci, a thought-provoking expert in network dynamics, discusses why dispersion factor k is more important to understanding coronavirus spread than R-0. I commend the article because:

  • Her discussion clarifies several mysteries in the coronavirus stories we’ve been hearing.
  • She explains how Sweden’s response has not been so laissez-faire as some have imagined.
  • She explains which public health measures are most vital and which are least fruitful.

I commend this important read to all!

Peace,
Chris

The article hits a lot of important points. It will be interesting when the dust settles as to what we did right and what we did wrong. At present, it appears reopening large group gatherings, such as church services, is risking a lot. If this article is correct, we could be looking at a lot of super- spreader events.
